C
64 Folkerts, Brian - dave freebie, found in tryouts. got the call and stuck, development type
67 Kalil, Ryan - best current OLmen, no more needs to be stated

OG
71 Kugbila, Edmund - could be a pro bowler or cut before OTAs
75 Scott, Chris - average starter, good backup. hes cheap and large
66 Silatolu, Amini - see kugzilla note
?? turner- 20 years old, some believe he was the steal of the 2014 draft.

OT
77 Bell, Byron - nuddles favorite whipping boy. saved panthers after otah quit. last three years played at NFL minimum salary. hence a great value bargain
74 Bond, Travis - dave freebie. large man, development type, & hes cheap
65 Williams, Garry - snake-bit, could be starting at LT,LG,RG,RT come week 1

Has Kugbila ever played OT?

yep. as a freshman and sophomore. they moved him inside because they needed more help there, but he's got the ability to play both spots.

he keeps his head on a swivel and moves pretty quickly where he needs to be. he's not graceful when he moves, but he's still really quick/agile for someone his size and has the power you expect. certain elements are definitely going to have to be coached up, esp. the mental part, which is probably why they wanted to essentially redshirt him last year. he needs the classroom. in high school he had a different head coach every year and in college....well, it's not like he came from a top coaching program in the country. he's quite capable of learning, though, and the game tapes i watched of the offense from year to year showed pretty solid growth.

that said, i'm nervous about kicking him back outside. i feel good about him as a guard, but OT...i dunno. i will say that i don't think he'd be worse than bell his first couple years in the job. bar just isn't set all that high there, though.

nate chandler will be our starting LT unless we sign somebody after cuts who has the experience and is more of a known. and he will do a serviceable job.

he's athletic enough to stop quick/fast pass rushers and strong enough to stop the bull rush.

people knock him because he is a converted DT. He played TE/Oline/Defensive Line in college. dude is a jack of all trades. and i would trust him 10 billion times more than bell.

Already he sounds better than Bell. Okay, OL of LT ???, LG Siliatu, C Kalil, RG Turner, RT Kugbila, I refuse to think Bell IS THE BEST we have at LT.

    • That makes me wonder, how many starting tackles in the NFL and/or elite tackles have short arms? I feel like there’s probably lots of tackles that end up being drafted in later rounds because they had short arms or didn’t have the physical tools.     also why not draft a tackle in the later rounds that we could move to guard or center if they fail, instead of drafting a center? If we draft a center we know they aren’t going to play tackle but if you draft a tackle they could end up playing any of the 3 positions, look at BC for example. It feels like it’s a better decision to draft a tackle in later rounds than a center.
    • Damn back to 10th. I only caught the last 5 minutes but some of those 3's were horrible lol. In that close of game you can't be launching those many hail mary's when you could be chipping away from the foul line. I guess no one wanted to get in the paint and didn't trust the refs to give them the calls maybe? Gonna watch the highlights to get a better idea of the flow of the game
    • I agree.  The Big 12 is a good conference, and he is the swinging dick in that conference.  If Bill Self retires, that sets Kansas back a bit, and Arizona moves even further ahead as the best team in that conference.  Arizona can crush west coast recruiting with USC / UCLA no longer being relevant for LA kids, and Gonzaga not being able to compete moneywise.   If Lloyd comes here, he will be second fiddle to Duke every single year in NIL and recruits.  Not to mention the entire SEC and Big East for kids who want to stay in those regions to play. This is why I keep saying go get Mark Few.  Has proven he can do more with less from an X / O perspective but can also recruit All American players and compete at a high level. He's a god at Gonzaga, but for $9M he'd make the move as that's 4x what he's making at Gonzaga, and makes him the highest paid coach in the country.
