Negative Huddlers

Recommended Posts

If you are a negative or pessimistic fan. Read and Heed Mike Ditka's comment on life.

“If you have a good attitude about life, if you’re positive, you can achieve anything. If you’re negative, you’ll achieve nothing. And besides that, you’ll be a pain in the ass to be around.”

I prefer to be an optimist. Pessimists think things can't get any worse. An optimist knows that they will.

Pretty solid advice that's very generic and vanilla. Often times Realists get mixed up with pessimists though.

The reality is that the water is half way up the glass.  Optimists say it is half full.  Pessimists say it half empty. They are both realistic but they have a different perspective.  People who tend on focus on the negative are no more realists than those who are focused on the positive.

Strange I thought it was normal to be negative?

There is evidence to suggest being negative has some genetic links but it is a choice.  Problem is that most people prefer the negative and politics, marketing and many things in our lives focus on the negative.

I always thought that it depended on if you were adding water to the glass, or taking it out.

Adding = half full

Rmoving = half empty

Nope.  Still the same.  If you are removing water it is just as easy to say it is still half full as it is to say now it is half empty.

That is very true. But is I am thirsty and drinking the water, and want more I am more likely to say, pass me the water jug, my glass is half empty than to say it is still half full.

It just depends on the situation.

Jus tlike I hate when people ask my favorite color because it depends on what you are talking about. I like a dark blue shirt, but a black car, and I would not paint my bedroom either of those colors.

    • Last night was the classic example of a visiting team just holding on through the wave of emotion a home team has at the start of a big time game. Bama’s first two kickoff returns really set them back as far as playcalling and allowed OU to dictate field position. The emotion of the home crowd fed into what OU was doing at that point, and it felt like Bama would not be able to overcome that.     Once the kickoff returner was told to fair catch every kick, the game shifted, as Bama wasn’t starting each drive inside their own 15. It was then that Bama was able to make some plays, outscoring OU 34-7 the rest of the way.  I think the last 3/4 of the game proves Bama was the better team. OU was just able to ride the initial wave of emotion to a big lead, but Bama held on just enough.  However, had OU blocked the punt on Bama’s second drive and scored a TD (vice a FG on the ensuing drive), things likely would have been different.  Anyway, Roll Tide!
