See, this argument makes the least sense of all to me. If we agree it really makes no difference one way or the other, why would you chose in favor of surgery? That's like getting your appendix removed at birth.

But like I said in a later post, should we surgically remove the appendix at birth because we don't really need it and there is a remote chance it could cause a problem later?

haha interesting origin in my opinion but I am not suprised. Many traditions come from religion, especially meaningless ones.

 

I am circumsized but wish I wasn't only because I'd prefer to be all natural, or as much as I could. I agree it is easier for me in American culture but at the same time, aside from banging random women, the girl that's for you isn't going to give a poo really...as stated in the video.

 

In the end it's really hard for me to say what I would want for my male child if I ever had one. For me it comes down to being natural/pointless operation versus being socially comfortable in an American society not so much "want him to look like me", that's kind of weird to be honest. I'd probably leam towards being more socially comfortable because I think in the end that would be more influential towards positive experiences, and a positive personal confidence more so than than feeling like you're all natural, something that may not be as the same value to your child.

 

I wouldn't take what doctors say as everything. At on point in time doctor's recomended smoking cigarettes...and believed it to be healthy. And that's just one example among many. Knowledge is limited with the times, add religion that that and it really closes up things. This is why religion needs to apply to spirituality and nothing else. People try and mesh it with politics, medical care, laws, education when it really has no place there. Nothing good comes from it.
