Dave Chappelle on Quitting His Show

Sounds like he regrets it, which is too bad. But in general he looks defeated. He looks like he's aged 20 years in the last 10. Tough to see a clown and solemn. Hopefully he takes a Bill Cosby turn and becomes the sagacious, even tempered comedian an the sweatered one's absence. In general I just hope he comes back to comedy.

I thought the same thing. Whether it was talking about the money missed or just his tone and physical cues in general, I think he's finally looking back and at least regretting it somewhat. I know it will never happen/it's too late, but damn I would pay for him to jump in a time machine, and crank out another season or two.

It was one of those shows that was popular, while at the same time almost having a cult type following that still exists today. In my groups of friends, we still text each other when Chappelle's Show is on TV and will still quote it religiously in everyday conversations.

I don't know if he regrets it, as much as he is trying a little self deprecating humor

I have always and will always love Dave Chapelle, it would be great to seem him back. He does look like he has aged a lot.

He basically reached a paradox in which he realized that people were laughing with/at him, but maybe not for the same reasons he was aiming for.

I also think a big part of it was he got tired of the celebrity life, especially the celebrity life that Hollywood wants for black celebrities. I remember an interview or something I saw or read from him where, and he has a point, that Hollywood has, at some point, made most black male celebrities dress in drag for a part. That was something he wasn't comfortable with for himself, and didn't want to be that dude that caved in to someone elses direction while giving up his own ideals.

I think the status he achieved turned him into someone who no longer wanted it. He realized life was bigger than money and fame, and just wanted to get away from having to answer to anyone but himself.

Good for him.

Very mature, Rondell.

We still quote it in every day conversation as well.

Playing golf just last week.....had to throw out a "for shizzle, I've always wanted to say that" when talking about Tiger

by far one of the funniest shows I think I have ever watched on a consistent basis. I thoroughly enjoy race related comedy, its funny because most of it is true.

We are all different races and its funny to bring out the truth of the stereotypes with EVERY race, not just one. He really nailed it on everybody too.

    • You bring up a good point on the stability part and i would agree that probably will factor into it. But yes, Tepper does have a strong influence on who stays/goes but I still believe ultimately it'is Morgan, Tilis and Canales who will decide.
    • I can always count on yout to put things so delicately lol. I'm still not sold on the fact that Tepper will make them keep him if they don't see him as a long term answer.
    • holy poo... this thread inspired me to keep trying to guess passwords to various alts I've created over the years and I finally got in! I pretty much accepted my fate as a lurker for the last several months because I could not remember my password. I didn't realize that new users couldn't join either, that explains things. I have been around for years under several different monikers, through the good and bad. I too always find myself coming back here even with all of the new social media options for Panther fan engagement. It's simply nostalgic.   I do get extremely annoyed with the same 5-10 posters shitting on Bryce and complaining about everything. It's unfortunate that half of them are mods and that nobody new can join because now I pretty much just come on here and see Bryce / Panther slander. There is barely any positivity to be had. We all watch this team and hang on this forum for entertainment purposes only. We have no control or say in anything. I used to be such a crazy ass fan that would argue with strangers about Cam newton on the internet and at games. Now, as a father of 3, a business owner and someone with way gnarlier life problems - I like to watch football and talk about football as an escape. Not to bitch more. I really like the direction of the team and will root anyone in a Panthers jersey. I live down the street from the Rams practice facility, Matthew Stafford is currently coaching his daughters flag football team in the same program I coach my sons. I have two highly ranked Rams staff members sons on my team. The way we beat them and had them on the ropes in the playoffs has me feeling amazing, and you would think we have the next great thing in Bryce with the way they all speak of him. I'm gonna ride that high and be a delusional fan, I hope that huddle can stick around or get fixed and perhaps I will get back to posting more now that I can log in again. I will do my best to not get banned. Keep Pounding!
