That guy is a beast. You would think that his athleticism would be through the roof if he was recruited to play in Oregon's offense. Maybe the only thing holding him back is between the ears? If that's true he would be a really strong candidate for breakout player this year.

i think a large part of it was the amount of time he took off to recover from pretty serious injuries.

 

kind of restating and expounding on the OP...

he only played 2 games at oregon before getting hurt, but that was after 2 years at a junior college. he got hurt in 2011 and the only thing he had done since then before we picked him up was playing basketball in 2012 at portland bible college. he was what you'd call rusty and didn't really come with a whole lot of experience.

 

in high school he played basketball and didn't play football until his senior year and he played defensive end.

 

so in addition to being rusty, he was very raw as a player when he got here as well. he's the very definition of and pretty much the ideal prospect, imo.

 

i don't know what kind of catch radius he has, but i remember reading an article about him where he was asked how high he can jump and he said he had a picture and pulled out his phone and showed a pic of him dunking and his elbow was even with the rim.

 

the dude fits the prototype of the modern pass catching TE.

Great background; thanks. He obviously has the physical tools. It'll come down to his desire, work ethic, and ability to grasp the offense. I try not to get excited about unproven guys but he's definitely one of the more promising on the team in recent memory.

I'll give you the interior blockers. But Stewart hasn't played meaningful minutes in a long time due to injury, D-Will is getting older, and Chandler and Bell are still questionable blockers at best right now. Only sure thing is Tolbert, but he's no home run threat. Didn't say they'd be awful just that I'm more comfortable in the pass catchers.

 

Stew played in 6 games last year, all towards the end of the season.

Hard work pays off. He has a lot of work ahead of him and will have a tough time beating out Olsen and Dickson for a TE spot but could defiantly make a roster spot if he can play special teams and can block. I know there are a bunch of huddlers that have high hopes for the kid and since he is taking snaps with 1st team offense his time might come very soon. Add the fact that we are going to have more 2 TE sets means more chances Williams will be on the field. I honestly would rather have a good blocking TE as our #3. If Williams can make it as our #2 TE then we could cut Dickson and keep a blocking TE like McNeil.

      Okay then, tell me what your expectations are for Thielen, XL, and Coker this year If someone wants to come out there and say they think Thielen is only getting 600-700 yards this year, then yea, I'm going to then expect T-Mac to get to 1,000. If someone wants to say they think XL or Coker is going to fall back to 300 yards this year, then yea, I'm going to expect T-Mac to get to 1,000. People seem to think I'm making excuses for why T-Mac can't get there, but it's the literal opposite, my expectations for him stem from my belief our other WRs for the first time in who knows how long.   We finally have a legitimate and full WR room, not sure that's happened since the Smitty and Moose days.  It's going to make them all better players, but it will also suppress all of their stats as they're all going to cannibalize each other a little bit.

      It’s certainly not my shining moment. But I still made it. Running the Sacramento marathon in December and hope to have a more Jake Delhomme-level of stardom there. The Everyman that overcomes obstacles to almost reach the pinnacle of success only to have it taken away by Adam Vinateri.
