I was there when...

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

I was also there when 89 punched Lucas, Mr Scott. It was surreal. I was directly across from it on the far sideline from the big hill. I definitely taught a few kids how to use curse words that morning.

What exactly happened? how did it go down from a person's perspective that was there? I never bothered finding out what lead up to it, just that it happened. Did steve seriously just come out of nowhere, walk up to lucas and clock him in the face?

I saw Chad Cota make the interception in the end zone that sealed the victory against the hated Steelers in I think 1996.

This was the same game where Sir Purr got flagged for jumping on a live ball.

I was there in 1997 when we played the 49ers on MNF. It was Kevin Greene's return appearance as a 49er after he jumped ship from us for the big money. I remember several fans had "GREED" taped over his name on their jerseys. He got booed on almost every play. I also remember during the game, Kerry Collins got hurt and had to come out. There was a loud cheer from the Panther "fans". I thought this was classless. Steve Beurlein came in and rallied us, but we still wound up losing the game. That was my very first Panthers game live.

Same game here. The Cota int would have been unnecessary had Kerry not overthrown Wesley Walls on 3rd down the previous series and forced a punt.

It helped that Ernie Mills dropped the possible game winner in the end zone for the Steelers.

That's also the game Kordell Stewart set the record for the longest QB rushing TD.

I was up in the nosebleeds but it was still pretty awesome watching them clinch their first division championship.

96 Steeler game where Chad Cota intercepted in the end zone to win the NFC West.  My first Panther game ever.  I thought the stadium was gonna collapse because everyone was jumping up and down and screaming.  I was too.  Funny thing was I stopped yelling and just listened for a second.  It was amazing to hear how loud that stadium can get when we are rocking.   I was a fan from the beginning but that game infected my soul.  Been a fanatic ever since.

05 When Steve Smith made Fred Smoots his Bitch.  Day before Halloween.  Was a gorgeous day. Clear Blue skies, nice Autumn weather and Fred Smoots opened his mouth to the eventually triple crown winner Steve Smith.  SS torn him a new one.  I don't think Smoots ever recovered from that beat down.

Christmas 2011 Cam's big run and LaFell 91 yd TD.  Great Pass and great catch.  Christmas present. Got great tickets for $44.00 a piece. Took 9 people that day.  Had a great time and it was my first time ever seeing Cam play.

I was there when Steve Smith sucker punched Ken Lucas :(

I was there as well.  Even have a few pictures of the scrum although it was too far away to actually get a good picture of the fight.  But I have one of Moose pulling Smith off him.

I was there when we were losing and with two seconds left we took the ball to the end zone by passing it across the field ten times. Too bad there were 100 penalties.

    • Very True--and I am a former HS English teacher.
    • Not a Moore fan-but he had a few good games last year-but I want players that scare you--Renfrow's route running and intelligence, Legette's size, speed, and strength, AT's intelligence and route running, Coker's body control, strong hands, and abilty to win contested catches, and TMac's size, body control, and ability to find soft spots in zone coverages.  Horn gives them the ability to stretch the field and he plays special teams.   Moore has a nice smile and can dance.  He filled in well last season, but to get better as a team, you have to upgrade your players.  I think Moore is a bottom of the roster guy who got bumped when we drafted 2 WRs and signed a legit free agent.  Here is the thing--TMac makes us better because he is great against the zone--man?  Good luck with that.  AT's role can be reduced, and that is probably a good thing.  He can specialize in situational football. Coker?  Just getting started. XL?  Just getting started.  Drafting TMac was probably a bit of a wake up call, but XL will be better as the 2. Renfrow?  I see him splitting reps with AT--keeping both fresh and giving different looks. Horn?  Watch the safety cheat his side when he is in the game--I see a young Steve Smith type in him, but he has yet to play a game.  I hear that Morgan loves him.
