Justin Blackmon, not Josh Gordon, is now the dumbest player in the NFL

But I thought marijuana was not addictive?

Here are guys that are willing to kill multiple million dollar careers to smoke this.....gotta Mabe addictive.

Marijuana is addictive, both mentally and physically. The rates of addiction with marijuana are just significantly less than other drugs (Cigs, Heroine, Meth...) its is much more comparable to the addiction rates of caffeine.

However drug addictions are 50% of these guy's problem the other 50% is just being dumb about how they handle their drug use.

Apparently you can be dumb and play in the NFL, you can be dependent on drugs and play in the NFL, but you can't be dumb and addicted to drugs.

Punch your wife in the face and render her unconscious in public: two game suspension. Smoke weed habitually: year suspension.

That's another thread, but it's a valid point.

I do believe that It was his first time running afoul of the law, and he is cooperating fully with officials.

Still, it would seem like he would have at least gotten four games.  If I were the commish, that would probably be a minimum six game suspension, if not eight.

Or when Dante Stallworth got drunk and ran someone over.  I don't think he faced any NFL suspension and just 30 days in jail right?

I don't think it should be penalized like this BUT if you know this is going to happen, don't you think you'd make an effort to not do it while you're making money.   Especially doing it in public, I mean, come on man.

Addictive personalities (mental addictions) is the main problem here. It is why millions of dollars and a bright future are being thrown away to use the drug, not so much the drug itself to blame.

Alcohol is addictive too, however millions of people are able to use it just fine. Again, it's the person. The same cannot be said for drugs like heroin. While it is the person to some degree, those drugs have more of a physical addiction, clearly physically and biologically observable through genes, brain formations, and things like intensity of withdrawl. However add a strong physical addiction to an addictive personality and you get death.

Substance abuse is not the same as substance use. It all depends on the person but less so, the harder the drug.

Weed is not addictive enough to blame weed for the issue, that is assinine. We do not blame alcohol, or addiction to alcohol for all the problems it causes, we blame 'irresposible drinkers', and rightly so. It is no different here.

exactly.

With his past, why on earth would you be smoking while driving around.  It's really not that hard.

    • Malcom Spence is the best player remaining, hope he’s there.
    • The era that you played in, and, more importantly, who you played with actually matters. Honestly, that's why these issues will be debated forever, as it's just difficult to say that this person or that person is better when you're discussing the passage of time. As for me, after Rice, Moss and maybe Megatron and T.O., there's probably a dozen or so guys that can be argued about to the cows come home. Personally, I'm not putting Fitz, Harrison, Johnson, Evans, or especially D-Hop, Jefferson, Chase or Hill definitely in front of Smitty (and Colston ain't even in the discussion). Context and all that stuff actually matters. Things like the triple crown matter.
    • Some of those guys? Yeah honestly you can.  I would 100% take Steve Smith over Larry Fitzgerald, Harrison, even Mike Evans. He is 100% a better player than those guys in his prime. If you look at the numbers Smith is historically under targeted in comparison to his contemporaries. He was only targeted 150 times or more only once in his career. Fitzgerald for example was targeted well above that 9 different seasons. Had Smith played with Peyton, Brady, Greatest Show on Turf, or even with Warner in Arizona he would broken records. His 2008 season was ridiculous accumulating 1400 yards in 13 games on less than 80 receptions. All time he also lost a season due to injury in 04, barely played WR as a rookie. Got robbed of 1k season with Clausen. Thats easily another 1800yds minimum that should have been tacked on to his #s. The only guys I’d say for certain are better than Smith are Rice, Moss, TO, Megatron, Julio Jones, Antonio Brown.
