Official 7-26 Practice Thread

Maybe the media folks made a pact to avoid having to be play by play Twitter performers for these practices... Managing expectations?

That seems very anti-media though...  if anything, they would want to tweet the plays because if the fans perceive that we've taken a step back, they could sensationalize it in that manner.  If the fan perceive that we have taken another step forward, they can sensationalize that angle as well and exploit it.

Idk what it is, but it just seems weird...  to go from pretty much play-by-play of each TC for the last 3 or 4 years to now getting one or two tweets from an entire practice?  That sucks.

Or they are wanting to concentrate on the quality of coverage and not tweet out every single play which could cause them to miss plays all together.

I for one don't miss all the pointless tweets of every mundane play. They do nothing as far as informing fans without context.

All I am saying is that Pilares has shown flashes. I never said he was going to be a #1 receiver.

I've actually been one of Pilares' biggest supporters since the day we drafted him.  I remembered watching him torch a team while at Hawaii and loved the pick.

But, I think he's, at best, a solid #3.  He has his limitations.  But, as someone else said, I think it is entirely possible, AND LIKELY, that he beats out Underwood, McNutt, or one of those guys for one of the final WR spots.

Agreed.  Don't get me wrong, there is a happy medium.  I don't want every play, not even close...  But, I have absolutely no context of what is going on with the team right now.  I get no sense of the vibe around us this year.  I don't even know that the Gaffney injury was even mentioned until today, for example.

I will be posting pics and observations in the morning and then heading to practice. It will be the first padded practice, looking forward to the first hits of the season.

Do you think you could get a shot of Trai Turner? I heard that big man has been turning heads. I'd like to hear more about him a picture would be awesome!

Just got back from training camp. My observations.

Cam looked pretty good but also a little rusty. (Not worried at all, the overall same body of work was there, fully confident he will be back to norm in a week or so) toward the end of practice it did look as though he was walking MILDILY gingerly on the ankle, oddly enough, he looked more comfortable when running, it was only when he was walking he had a very VERY minor limp, nothing big deal though.

Kelvin Benjamin runs some super crisp routes and has great presence to him, dude will be a TD machine no doubt.

Brenton Bersin. Suprisingly I think I saw him get more reps with the 1s than I did Kelvin Benjamin during O Vs D team drills. (Will be very suprised if he doesnt make the 53 man roster considering he looked solid and got a ton of reps with the 1st team offense)

The D looks more physical, the front 4 in particular. Definatley looked more stout up the middle.

Its still way too early but as far as our O line, Cam had a decent amount of time back in the pocket and D Will found some pretty good holes to burst through on a few occasions. Time will tell though.

Umm, pretty much all I can think of for now. The big story was just how many reps Bersin got with the 1st team, he might have been lined up in every play the 1st team offense ran, somewhat suprised to see that much of him, and he really did look good out there.

Just the fact that Twitter begins with "twit" is a good indicator that it's not real journalism.

It is a superfluous messaging tool in my opinion. It's nothing to get your twat twisted over.

you should probably look up "twitter revolution" on wikipedia

Sorry. I liked reading all the tweets. (Consolidated here, not on twitter.)

As someone that can't be there, it's just kind of cool to get a feel for what's going on there. I'm going to be bummed if every practice is like this.
