Steve Smith Retirement

He burned the bridge I believe. Enjoy the ride. Its gonna be a long year.

What?  Smitty did a great job of handling his release and said all the right things in the media.

Even if Gettleman doesn't like him, he wouldn't stand in the way of allowing Smitty to retire a Panther and JR wouldn't let him even if he tried.

What? Saying there will be blood and you're not even the starting receiver for your new team is the right thing to say? Telling Panther fans not to call him by his first name anymore is the right thing?

He'll play 2 years in Baltimore and sign his one-day deal here. I don't see him making the 3 his contract is for, plus the Ravens can save money by cutting him even after next year I believe.

Then he'll have a big retirement ceremony that Cam and many players will attend, all wearing Super Bowl rings which will cause the only awkward point of the press conference, as Smitty makes a "joke" about wanting one of those.

    • When we have everyone playing like they should, we can win the Cup. That has been the biggest problem when we get to the playoffs, but this year seems to be fixed mostly. We could have had multiple if we had done this in the past.
    • Here we go Bryce Stan’s you should love this. Hell it may be one of you.  It has every cliche excuse and then some.  Unintentionally hilarious my limit was reached when he said Bryce had it hard because four play callers.
    • Luke goes in to the specifics of what he looked to accomplish in joint practices.  Basically they may work with someone on the opposing team to stress something they feel is a weakness in their own game in a different way that can be done with someone they are familiar with. That they can have predetermined stresses but since neither wants to get injured and it has absolutely no bearing on anything there is not the level of concern that would be in a preseason game.  He would also even chat with opposing OC.   It seems like an interesting nuance among the vets and savy pros.
