I'd be fine with it, because he doesn't really need to. He knows the offense, he knows the players (minus his receivers, but that'll come in time), and he would only be playing a series anyways.

I'm fine with him not playing purely from an injury fear standpoint, but he has got to get some live reps with these receivers asap.  I'm 50/50 on him not playing.

First team offense would really only run 2-3 series at most (IMO).  That said, I dont think you are really losing a lot by not playing him.  Let him heal and give him a few more reps in games 2-4 if necessary.  I know game 4 is usually just a walk thru but there's nothing written in stone about sitting your starters. If he still needs reps with his receivers then so be it.

Rivera said that even if he did play, he would mostly be handing the ball off, then added "...seriously." With that in mind, I don't see much point in him playing since he won't get much chance to work on timing with his receivers.

Cam being the man that he is, is not the star attraction of this team anymore. Luke and TD are! Defense saved our asses last year, and this year we will need that defense even more with the players retired in the offseason. I am far more interested in seeing our defense since we can all pretty much bank on it being what keeps us above .500 for the season
