Kelvin Benjamin - Aside from the touchdown....

the second best team in the league in rushing in 2013 only got better at running the ball in 2014.  We will have no problem running the ball in 2014.

and we're not going to Toronto.  I will bet the farm on it.  Literally.  a couple hundred acres bet on it.

I always get my non biased opinions from SB nation.  That Michelle Beadle and Skip Bayless, they're on point.

If you want real insight to another team and what is going on - and are patient in reading it because you realize they're fanatics just like you - search for the better team forums and you'll get insight.

In the popular two bills forums I frequent there isn't even one thread about Gilmore getting beat, there isn't much of a mention at all.  Why?  No one really cares he got beat on one play in preseason.  We know his capabilities based on his career thus far and one play in a scrimmage is not indicative of ability.

This was big for Panthers fans and KB fans because this is just one of a small sample size that has been seen.  His first game, limited snaps, and he did that.  That's something that should make a Panther fan smile.  But, don't hang your hat on just that one little play in a preseason game against what NFL pro's label as one of the better emerging CB's in the league.  He isn't Haden, Peterson, or Sherman, but he is getting better and improved drastically in 2013.

Here is a good article, if you care from Football Outsiders on CB's.  It is titled "Best Cornerback Charting Stats 2013"

anyway, to all of you...

Anyway, I think I've made enough of my opinions here - and keep in mind, they are just opinions and not fact - just like everyone else is sharing here.  We are all fans of our teams and that just means we are fanatics.  So, say what you want about my opinions I doubt I will reply anymore to this thread unless there is something of particular interest to reply to - and that is above just the average "he got balls in his mouth, herp derp dat ass got whooped" 13 year old behind a keyboard statement.

Ok and what in the hell has Watkins done?  If Benjamins play was such an anomally he wouldn't have been doing it all training camp and wouldn't have done it in college. His game is obviously translating to the NFL and I'd say better than Sammy Watkins game has translated thus far.  Watkins has played in 2 preseason games and hasn't done a damn thing but you're going to come over here and diss our rookie? And really the Benjamin td wasn't even my favorite play by him last night, my favorite play was when he ran such a good route that Gilmore literally got his ankles broken and I mean broken and fell on his ass.

Not that it matters getting in to what could have or might have...  but in most games I think Benjamin gets McKelvin.  He is far more athletic and faster then Gilmore.  He would have been able to keep up and get in to position much more easily then Gilmore.  And, slammed to the ground - nah, because they'd have just pulled the CB back 5 yards and any contact would be illegal.  Also, they'd have gone to a cover 4.

From the limited amount I saw of KB I have to believe the best way to cover him in the NFL is to intercept and cut him off in motion with the safety.  There is little to not reason to not double team him because there are no viable threats to catch a cold on the team.  Double coverage on KB will be done from his first snap in his first game.  Against the Bucs you will likely see the CB play inside and under on KB, avoid nearly all contact and let Goldson cover the top.  Goldson will likely even be the first player to make contact.  Being that he only ran a 4.61 Benjamin isn't blowing by anyone and defenders have a better chance at jumping his route then they do actually stopping him.  He's just too big and powerful.

If you can keep him outside it will be even easier but a nearly impossible task to do.

Lol this is so irrelavent to the game becuase this is in the past. Ya you have 20/20 when looking back on the game. Hell if I could go back I'm sure I could have coached that game myself, if I know what I know now. KB would have done the same thing on either side, well actually I don't know that for a fact because... it didn't happen to McKelvin, it happened on Gilmore it was a touchdown either way Gilmore would have played the ball it would have been 6.

KB is going to be amazing rookie, this year and this isn't the last time we see him make catches like that bar anything unforseen.

P.S. please don't bring up 40 times that has NOTHING TO DO WITH FOOTBALL THAT IS A TRACK TEST, and it's funny because it's not even ran on a football field. Football speed and track speed are two totally different things. Hence the reason other big receivers still can get behind DBs (Boldin, Marshell, Alshon Jeffery, etc.).

Something like that. Put 11 on Benjamin. Benjamin's hands will still be highest.

Good points.

Plus: It was clear, Benjamin didn't get good starts in his 40 runs (not including the fact he has a tremendously big body to unfurl before he gets up to speed). But of course, dumb fans and reporters always seem to forget or ignore those tidbits.

But would take KB over Watkins. I'm weird

I don't think it's weird at all.  Watkins is a stud but KB went to the high school that has produced more NFL players than any other, was a national champion at F$U, and has a ceiling that's truly second to none.  Should he realize that potential, and so far things couldn't have possibly gone better, then there's no one I'd rather have.  #truth.

The only reason I can think of is that they help to generate traffic to the threads..

Really quick way for the huddle to self regulate trolls is to stop feeding them.
