Training Camp Wrapup - August 10

"Lingering knee injury" is not something I like to hear when talking about a 300+ lbs lineman we're counting on for the season. This furthers my belief that Gettleman is looking everywhere for who might be cut at OT.

lingering knee problem on our starting OT is more than a bit discerning. it's a good thing we're so stacked at deep there.

ugh.

Ya I'm still kind of shocked at the way they handled OT this offseason.

Me too.  Even if we planned on rolling with Chandler and Bell as our starters, I'm still surprised at least one solid vet wasn't added for depth.  I still can't imagine us going into the season with this current OL roster, especially after the backups have been getting owned in camp.

Its obvious we are as cash strapped as DG says we are. We are fooling no one that we prob have the worst T duo in the NFL and at some point it will bite us. I guess the bright side is Im not sure if Williams is that much worse that what we have right now.

You have to think someone better than Garry Williams will become available on the cuts to 53.

    • I think where they would be picked if redrafted before both classes have played enough football to really tell.  Baker literally looked like a washout with us after Cleveland gave up on him, then turned world beater with the Rams, got a prove it deal with the Bucs and has looked awesome ever since. Asking where Ward would’ve went had he went in ‘24 is just stupid.  I’m no GM, but I wouldn’t have taken Williams #1 either.  I would’ve taken Joe Milton way higher than he went.  I think Shadeur should’ve been a first round pick this year.  Point being, opinions are like buttholes, everybody has one.  It’s my opinion that Ward has that “something special.”  I get that feeling that he’ll be an even better pro than he was a collegiate QB because of whatever that quality is.  I think he’s gonna surprise a lot of people, especially being such an under appreciated first overall pick.
    • Where do we get our T-shirts and hats? Pretty sure this is the first championship ever in professional basketball or football in Charlotte!
    • Nice turnaround for Kon.  I’m still a little worried about his ability to create for himself and others, but it was SL.  Come regular season, he will playing a much different role and shots will be there for him.  He showed some reason for hope - and not just him, but the whole squad.  I suppose for the first time ever, we have drafted and acquired enough young talent that we actually not only competed for once, but won the whole thing in summer league.     Kon, Simpson, and Sims made all the difference.  Almost every year prior I felt we always struggled because we usually didn’t have a floor general/real PG to get us into offense.  This was such a breath of fresh air.  And look at us!  We finally are champions!😂
