Harper hasnt been anywhere near a better safety than Godfrey the last few years, it got to a point when the Saints were taking him out on passing downs. Godfrey haters can whine all they want.

I wouldn't argue against that either.  Other than failing to address our OT situation, signing Harper for decent money is probably the most head scratching move Gettleman has made in his short time here.  I could've understood Harper possibly being brought in for a veteran minimum deal, but to give him $4.5M over two years with $1.5M guaranteed?  Why?  Surely there couldn't have been much competition for his services.

Harper was a bad fit in wolfmans D, he'll fit what the panthers need much better. Basically he'll be a WLB that biltzs and leads the DBs.

If that's the excuse for his suckage then he must have been a bad fit for all the Saints D Coordinator since 09'.

Hmmmm didn't harper make the pro bowl in 09? Then follow that up with another in 10?

His injuries worry me, not just the toe but his knee too. He played the whole 13 season with a bum knee, that could be part of the drop in play......

Wow I'll let you in on what won me over with harper. The day he moved to the queen city, after getting off the plane and checking it....two hours later he was in weight room putting in real work. The next day same deal, sweaty workout. He's been a mainstay in the weight room since (even with his injuries). Plus I'm a panther fan, he's a panther right now. If not for the two big injuries, id bet he'd have a better year. We'll see, but right he's the best SS on the roster.

If you would've told me last year we'd be looking at Godfrey and Harper at SS I'd be more taken back than our OL situation.

And I don get why people frame a Godfrey hater vs. supporter group dealio...it's been a consensus he's just avg/bad for a while.

Yeah, you are just letting Saints hate cloud everything. As has been said, he was making Pro BowlS then....

No.

I'm letting years of watching this dude get toasted in the pass game and take bad angles (while being slow) in the run game defense. Frame my opinion.

Mike Vick made a pro bowl (in Atlanta) and he had a passer rating under 70.

Julius Peppers made a few pro bowls with less then double digit sacks.

That popularity contest means nothing to me.

Show me where he made a All Pro team then we can talk.
