Partial Summary of "Expert" Opinions on Panthers

I don't have time to go more than the 20 minutes I have already invested doing the research.   I have thought about starting a thread documenting all the "love" the media and "Experts" have for our Panthers for awhile.  What I will say is that Coach Rivera has a Poo Load of articles that will work for excellent bulletin board material.

1.  ESPN ranks Panthers Offensive Line worst in the NFL.

2.  Derek Anderson Ranks 27th in Back up QB's, even behind Jimmy Clausen and a bunch of rookies who have never played in the league.

3.  BR ranks the Panthers offense #30.

4.  ESPN insider says the Panthers are the most likely to go from 1st to worst.

5.  Boomer Esiason says that Cam is the most over rated player in the whole NFL.

6.  Walter Football predicts that the Panthers will be 5-11, a reduction in 7 wins from the previous season!!!

7.  BR ranks the Panthers receivers 32nd .

8.  Ron Rivera the 2013 coach of the year is ranked as the 21st best coach by NFL.com

9.  PFF also says that the Panthers have the worst receivers in the league.

Please feel free to add more of the "Expert Love".  I sure wish I could be payed for my Expert opinion.  I seriously can not recall a more negative outlook for a team coming off of a pretty darn good season, and a 12-4 record the previous year.  I don't believe all this non-sense is right.  I believe that we are going to have another good season.  Go Panthers!

They were far off last season too. The fact is these 'analysts' are making rather above average potholes into 'holy poo, there goes your house and street' sinkholes. Yes, our offensive line sucks and our secondary features no Pro Bowlers but our front seven is still in tact and we've still got Cam, Tolbert, Olsen and now Benjamin.

Well, all teams have the "but we still have..." players.

Cam is amazing, but didn't keep us from being a bottom offensive team last year. Olsen is great, but shouldn't be the top receiver on any team in the league. Tolbert? Ground and pound, but what separates him from someone like Marcel Reece, who fails to keep the Raiders from being arguably the worst offensive squad year in and year out. Benjamin? Rookie receiver who has had one catch in one preseason game so far. I have high hopes and beliefs too, but let's not crown him an offensive juggernaut just yet.

OR...all of us will be extremely excited when these accusations prove false and we repeat the year we had last year.

Sad when a team has to look perfect for some folks to feel comfortable. Oh well.

I'm a fan of a team that has never had two winning seasons in a row... Ever. I think I deserve to be skeptical. This isn't a team headed up by Belichick and Brady.

Not that I wholly agree with all of those statements, but the Panther fanbase, specifically the Huddle community, has about a 90% chance of being severely disappointed by this team if y'all seriously think these rankings are that far off...

I like the candor.  I even get why the media would be down on the team but I dont see the team going 5-11 and I dont see the offense being ranked 31 in the NFL.  This team will be competitive and ultimately there will be a handful of plays that will make or break the season.

I agree, but I'm not convinced we're about to repeat the playoffs like everyone else seems to think.

The reporters are just trying to predict why we're going to suck... as history tells, we suck the year following a winning season. They are just trying to determine why we're going to suck this year, since it is already a given that we're going to suck.

The Panthers have to finally shake their curse.. they have to get the monkey off their back and make this the year they finally have b2b winning seasons. We do that...and the media love will pour in next off-season. Can't really blame them for aiming as low as possible when it comes to predictions. It's upto the Panthers to change that perception.

    • Watching games this year again and Bryce missed a wide open XL many times and some of them were in the endzone. I get the kid has mental lapses and hasn't broke out yet, but this is year three on a rookie deal! Cutting bait now is too early. If he hasn't gained anymore trust from his QB, posted any highlights, little production, or outright gets beat out then we can talk movement.
    • Samesies   I truly may just cash completely out of Panther football if we give him a long term deal that isnt necessary.  I have watched NFL for 50 years now and I can without a shadow of a doubt say you cannot win consistently with BY.  Way too many limitations to deal with.   I may come back around in 3 years when the inevitable happens and all parties are either cut and/or fired.  Giving him a deal before this season so you hopefully can get him cheaper in case he "blows up" or if you truly believe that he will has to be the most moronic decision a gm can make when the evidence is laid before you with different players
    • This is the one! I was at that game and all KB had to do was lay down on the corner after the pick or make an obvious tag while he was down. He had already ran a lazy route. Then if Cam would've just walked to the sideline like most elite QBs instead of trying to make the tackle.  A lot of people bring up the TJ Watt hit, but he just reaggravated a bunch of scar tissue from that play. And every Cam hater said that the running did him in and it was a dive tackle attempt on an interception that initially began the shoulder deterioration. He still went to New England later and would've got them in the playoffs had their A team not sat out the covid year. We quit on him too early. But hey how good was Teddy? Am I right?
