11-5, unlike past years I see us starting strong before struggling a bit midway through the season but finish relatively strong to clinch a wild card berth.

My predictions and then some side notes to the season to come.

Panthers at Home 8-0: W-Lions; W-Steelers; W-Bears; W-Seahawks; W-Saints; W-Falcons; W-Bucs; W-Browns

Panthers on Road 5-3: W-Bucs; W-Ravens; L-Bengals; W-Packers; L-Eagles; W-Vikings; L-Saints; W-Falcons

Division Record: 5-1

Overall: 13-3

Offensive 20+ point games: 13(11 in 2013)

** Seahawks, Cardinals, 49ers, and Saints were the only teams to hold the Panthers below 20 points last season.

Defensive 20+ point games: 4 (6 in 2013)

There are only 2 defenses on the Panthers schedule that can limit the Panthers offense. Seahawks and Bengals. So, even though the Panthers offense may be a little above average compared to the rest of the NFL, they play below average defenses and weak red zone defenses for most of the season.

Did you know 8 of the 13 teams we play this season all ranked in the bottom 9 of the NFL in red zone defense? No significant defensive changes on any of those teams.

The Eagles, Bucs, Lions, Bengals, and Seahawks are the only defenses that I am worried about in the red zone.

Of those teams, the Eagles and Bucs while good in the red zone allow teams in the red zone 3+ times per game.

The Lions have Jim Caldwell as HC and a new DC, so I expect their defense to turn to poo.

I expect 2-3 games where the Panthers have trouble getting into the red zone and putting up 20+ points.

I see blow-out losses for the Panthers in the Bengals and @Saints game.

11-5.......  We are in the playoffs!  (not sure if we win the division or get the wildcard as we tied NO (also 11-5) and split with them during the season)

I think we are a 10+ win team on paper but with a lot of new parts, Cam being rusty and injured, and a pretty ugly schedule, who knows. I was saying 13-3 for the longest time but the offense really looks out of sync. I usually have a good bead on this team as far as predictions go but this year it's really hard to say. Could be anywhere from the #1 seed in the playoffs to picking top 10 in the draft.

Pretty much what I expect but I see a win at Cincinnati and a win at Atlanta to close the season. 5-11

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
