I've liked what little we've seen from Brown so far as a returner, but don't we need somebody else as a backup option?

you don't have to "look" to see one.  best chance might be Janis off of GB but he may have solidified the return role there.  otherwise, probably wont find a real upgrade out there.

ESPN Packers reporter Rob Demovsky considers seventh-round WR Jeff Janis a lock to make the 53-man roster.

Janis has had a strong camp and then scored a 34-yard catch-and-run touchdown last weekend against the Rams. There's no way he'd sneak through waivers and onto the Packers' practice squad. I agree completely.  But, we have to remember who is talking.  Rivera says he likes Philly Brown and is not looking for a new returner on the waiver wire. His job is to instill confidence in his players and coach the roster we have.  

 

If Gettleman had been quoted saying this, I would be pissed.

I'd say the need to look for OL or Safety help is greater.

I'd prefer keeping 6 WRs to 5 TEs. KB, Cotch, Avant, Bersin, King, and Philly.

If we're hanging onto McNeil just for his blocking BWill has shown plenty to take that role.

I agree but again, it looks as though Cam made other guys look better than they are. Lafell, Ginn, and even Smitty have looked less than optimal at this point.
