Panthers Cuts - 8-29

I would like to see us cut down to about 49, and wait until after cuts and grab some pieces, or maybe even after the first week, so we don't have to offer any guaranteed money to veterans.

Pretty much agree with his picks. I might rather have Thomas over Godfrey, but that's a very minor quibble.

Velasco can play center and I'm not sure if Norwell can/does. Might factor in.

I'm pretty sure Folkerts will be our backup center. I don't think Norwell can play center but can play tackle.

Thomas over Godfrey? That'd be stupid, but Thomas can play ST.

 

Why is that stupid? Godfrey wasn't a great safety even when healthy. Now he is a slower, an even worse CB, and doesn't help out on ST. 

 

Like I said, it's a minor quibble, but I think in the end Thomas is more talented than Godfrey and has the ability to help out on ST.

Thomas is almost surely gone.  He has hardly played at all in the preseason and he isn't hurt.  That says a lot.

Well I know they won't for sure because Godfrey seems to be a Rivera favorite.

 

Just saying in the end I think he would be more useful to the team than Godfrey will be, but only on the margins. As I said, minor quibble and not really worth arguing about.

Cuts probably won't happen until around 2-3pm.

Whomever is on the roster from our secondary will likely have some significant playing time. Godfrey will likely play 20+ snaps a game and be a spot starter with injuries.  I wouldn't trust Thomas to do the same considering how much he has screwed up when given an opportunity.

That being said, I can understand your lack of trust for Godfrey too, he hasn't shown himself to be anything more than JAG.
