Cam out

Yeah, if Newton was purposefully held out this week, to play next week, it sure as hell looks like they're not taking Tampa Bay seriously.

That's part of it. Other little remarks by different Panthers players tell me they're not too worried about the Bucs. Haven't seen anything like that from Tampa Bay.

You keep him out until he is healed. JFC, it's why they have backups, and you don't IR your starting QB over a 6 week injury. You also don't risk long term health over one damn game. If it fugs the season, so be it, poo happens. I don't want him playing hurt if he can't play 100%. They will play the hand they were dealt and they realize these guys are human beings. It's just a damn game, some of y'all need to grow the fug up.

Who's to say that Cam himself said he would rather not risk it? Do y'all think he had absolutely no say in this?

Wasn't it Cam himself who said repeatedly earlier in the week that he was feeling great and felt like he would be play today? This looks like Rivera's decision who has been more pessimistic all along.

As long as the medical staff advises. I think doctors should have nearly absolute authority in situations such as this.

Pretty much this. As for the "what's the difference between this week and next" argument, there's probably a decent chance he doesn't play next week either if it's bad enough to hold him out today.

It sucks and we're a far lesser team than we normally would be, but what can you do?

I sincerely don't know that I've ever seem a coach not go all in on such an important game.

Can you ever say you've seen a coach say we're not playing for now, but later? It's unprecedented to me. Kind of goes against everything a coach is supposed to stand for I feel like. Can't preach leave it all out in the field when you aren't pulling out all the stops. This sport is a sprint,, not a marathon. If nothing else it just sounds like we aren't taking this opponent seriously, which is of course not the man you want leading your team and having such ideas trickle down in your locker room.

Oh man do I agree with this. The Bucs are taking us way more seriously than we are them. For a team with our track record, that is incredibly foolish.

Um...What? Where did you hear we are taking the suks lightly? Cuz I want to hear/read that. Really dude, even for you that's a stretch.

Again, where are you getting this information? I would bet my wifes left *** that this team is taking the suks very seriously.

Folks will say anything to give their fears legs.

Glad we're being cautious with Cam... like coach Rivera said, the season is a marathon not a sprint. We shouldn't need Cam to beat Tampa.

What this tells me is that Rivera is confident we're going to run off 9 straight Ws like we did last season. Are you? I'm not. We probably need to sweep Tampa Bay to make the playoffs or get extremely lucky.

    • Two things: 1. Dr. Eric Eager is central to the draft process 2. I know that it was edited, but we didn't hear "Thieneman" one time, not even before the Vikings pick.
    • Why would he sign here as a guard when surely someone would sign him as a tackle?  Assuming he is healthy
    • Went back to watching the highlights. With a sober mind haha. Here is what I saw.    freddie needs to make 1 of those but the rest aren’t on him.    Slavin was BBBBAAAD again last night. Not sure what is going on with these game one Slavin gafs.    miller was ok but had his worst game in the playoffs so far.    nikishin was no good. His his awful turnover led to the first goal at the end of the first period that just can’t happen. ghost was beat like a drum multiple times last night, including the go-ahead goal at the end jarivs wont shoot. He is either hurt or he is struggling mentally and I think it could be a combination of both. He passed up a wide open net on the power-play only to pass it to no one and cleared it himself.     Svech played well. He is getting zero help on that line.    aho. Worst game as a pro. I mean that. He won’t shoot it, passes go to no one and turns it over repeatedly.  He did exactly what they did against Montreal game one when Miller had a turnover. Aho left his man to go help and left the golden Knight player wide open in front of Freddie.  If I was Rod, you Tell Aho when that thing hits your stick you fire it  someone needs to sit him down just him in a room and ask what’s going on. He seems soft, timid and has zero fire.   canes could have won that game   There isn’t a gap between these two teams  they are dead even   Carter Hart’s gonna get lit up in this series. We can beat that guy. the consensus last night was our defense played horrible and our stars won’t score.  clean the defense up. Tell the top line to shoot it everything and we’ll win tomorrow night.   Possibly convincingly.
