Offense or Defense based NFL

After a few years of heavy leaning by the NFL to promote more offensive gameplay, are you guys happy with it? Do you enjoy the game more now, than what it evolved from. More offensive friendly enforcement, most notably the 5 yard illegal contact penalty.

 

As a kid I found offense exciting and defense boring, as I aged and started to notice the game going the other direction... I'm not happy with it. I probably love the NFL even more with my interest being exclusive NFL, I no longer watch the NHL or my local CFL team. Did anyone else find themselves evolving to prefer certain elements of football?

 

I would prefer again to bring in more Defensive friendly changes... What does your ideal NFL look like?

I dont have a problem with any of the penalties except the ones that are destryoing the integrity of the game. I really am hoping Goodell gets fired over the ray rice fiasco. You should be able to hit the qb if he just releases a pass and you shouldnt be called for an illegal hit to a defenseless receiver (this rule is the worst imo) how else are you to defend a quick slant over the middle if you cant knock the dude on his ass after he catches the ball. Calls like this just irritate the poo out of me. Its professional football...allow them to play the game. They get paid millions of dollars ( not everyone but even if you're a practice squad guy you make more than most doctors) of course there are going to be some repercussions im sure some people are going to get fuged up but poo happens its the nature of the game and with these weak ass calls that can directly effect the end of games is garbage something needs to be done about it.

I love that we have a solid D, but if the NFL were all about defensive games it would get boring. Low-scoring, time-controlled games aren't fun unless it's your team.

The main reason offense is so big is because of fantasy football. I love watching the physical play and big hits of a defense myself.

Some of you talk like it's Goodell that dreams these changes. Have u ever heard of the league owners meeting where they vote on these changes?

even with Rice and Montana being my favorite players of all time, I still prefer defense.  A defensive game can change on any play--nonsense like 34-38 or any Packers game is so incredibly boring.

An occasional shootout is fun but a lot of points in every game really cheapens the fun at some point.  I prefer a tense 13-10 game where every play can be the one that decides the game these days.
