Panthers are now 1-6 on SNF and the playoffs since 06 with 4 blowouts

NBC won the rights to Sunday Night Football back in 2006. That was also the first year since the Panthers won their last playoff game. We all know about the 2 playoff losses, but we've been putrid on the NFL's biggest weekly showcase being blown out by the Cowboys, Saints, and Steelers in that time. We also lost homefield advantage in 2008 to the Giants.

This is the #1 reason why the national media doesn't respect us. They don't pay attention to us on Sunday afternoons. They DO pay attention to us when we get a chance to showcase ourselves and they see us fall in the dirty mop bucket every single time.

And yes we do play a little better on Monday Night Football, but that's now the B level cable NFL showcase unlike Sunday Night Football, the highest rated weekly show on TV.

Yea, I had a similar thought last night.  It occurred to me that this team isn't ready for the big time.  It's a very good football team with lots of top tier talent, but something about the psychology of the national spotlight seems to unnerve them.  Maybe it's all coincidental that we tend to poo the bed on Sunday night and playoffs, or maybe they for whatever reason just aren't ready to play with the big boys yet.  I dunno, I dismissed the thought as being over-analytical.

I told a buddy this yesterday.

"I'm a little worried the lights may be a little too bright for the Panthers tonight".

My exact words.

We are still dealing with a young coach, fan base, and QB.

We are dealing with a cast of average WR's, that will only get better.

We are dealing with a bad OL, and an even worse OC.

These things will happen.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
