It will be a two year process...remember?

Gettleman said he needed two years to turn this thing around long term as he stood on the podium last year.He told everyone to be patient.Reamped Oline is first,.Start cutting the fat with our older RB's next year. The only WR that is really safe is K.B,TE is Olsen. The defense has already begun the process. Watching D.G sitting in his box last night, his stomach most have been churning. The NY SB teams he helped built could run the ball, and set up the pass with the run. This team does neither.

Enough cap space will start to be available in the next two years to add the pieces and two more good draft classes should do it.Next year will still be tight but better then it has been.Think he has the right formula but didn't have enough cash to do it right.Time will tell...be patient.

Last night was an abiration. That was not the defense we know out there..whatever caused that meltdown is not who they are. They will do what needs to be done to get it right. The offense needs to be fixed and new players cannot happen this, year.A new game plan is the best they can do right now.

That was a calculated risk that didnt pan out. That bone head caused this team dearly. Live and learn..can't do anything about that now.The answer at this time is to adjust the play calling to fit the offensive personal...which doesn't seem to be happening.

Anytime you tag a player there is some risk involved since the entire salary is guaranteed.  I know a lot of people didn't like the decision but I can see why DG did it.

We had a really good year and I think most of us would agree it was because of our defense and Hardy was a huge part of that.  The team tried to keep the same formula together, a formula that worked extremely well.  There was no way to know that Hardy would have the same off the field issues.  Just be happy we didn't have some GM that overpaid Hardy with a long term deal.

Also people need to remember Hardy's tag is only for one year.  Who do people think we would have got for 13m?  All the top end tackles got long term deals worth much more then that.

i agree. and some people will berate me for saying this but its for this reason that you steer clear of players with behavioral problems. it was obvious to this team and this staff before hand that Hardy wasnt altogether there in the head. at the very least he wasnt mature. in the future (no matter what the final verdict is for Hardy), this team needs to stay away from players that have disciplinary issues. its not just about the integrity of the team (which is the most important) but this stuff can REALLY burn a team when they waste millions on a guy who doesnt have the sense to stay away from crazy people...

Maybe that is why we tagged him instead of giving him a long term contract.  I think we were trying to keep the defense together to carry us for one more year.

A lot of people on here were upset that we got rid of all of our receivers but then they are mad that we kept Hardy.  So DG is stupid for keeping the defense together (which was one of the best in the league) but he is also stupid for replacing the receivers (who were some of the worst in the league).

If the decision to franchise Hardy is the "worst" decision DG ever makes we will be in pretty good shape

Technically it has been two years. He said that when he took over, and it has been two offseasons since. The team has only taken a step back from where it was last year.

actually our record is better than it was at this point last season. Let's keep it real. You might end up being right, but currently that is not a true statement.

i didnt say Gettleman made the wrong decision. i actually supported him at the time. but that doesnt change the fact that this organization knew there was something not right in Hardy's head. i just think the team needs to vet their potential FA and especially draft picks alittle more closely to see what kind of character they have. it will avoid alot of this from recurring

    • Ppl want to trade Melo? Am I wrong for thinking that would be a bad idea?
    • Some of you act like one can't learn from experience over time. Just because you may not know what you're doing in 2018 doesn't mean that you don't know what you're doing in 2025. Frankly, you grow from experience, and success and excellence gives first-time applicants the hand probably 99.999% of the time.
    • It's an interesting topic of conversation as sports evolves. I think ultimately it would lead to a number of small market franchises folding though. Especially in the NBA where there are so many bad teams that have been bad for years and years in some cases already. But as it stands I think athlete pay draft or no draft aside has reached a point where we can and should realistically ask should they make that much compared to the average person. Now college athletes is a different conversation but even that reaches a breaking point. But we could go down the rabbit hole on this even further into overall entertainment and talk about actors making absurd sums too. In the end I think in sports the powers that be won't allow these changes to even be considered because it opens the door for so many other variables. But who knows how long sports like football will realistically be around after people like us pass on. We're only just now learning about things like CTE which the league and the sport in general will only be able to run away from for so long. As far as the NBA goes my understanding is viewership has been steadily going down for a number of reasons but one crucial aspect is key players missing so many games. The NBA has to figure that out regardless. Especially when considering fans who pay to see these athletes compete in person. But hey I guess let's just try to appreciate what we've got while it still exists in this form eh?
