Roman Harper..... Shots Fired!

I don't believe SS89 had any interest in mentoring the younger WRs.   Not sure he ever has.          Some people will claim that players aren't paid to mentor other players...  but,  ask Cotchery and Avant why they were brought in..  one of the reasons was to mentor the young guys.        Same thing with Anderson..  one of the reasons he was brought in and kept was to help mentor Cam and help him.

89 seems more about survival of the fittest.   Even though,   Moose and some of the other WRs we had at the time,  probably helped the then-young SS89 out..teaching him the ropes and helping him improve.

If our defense is as focused on defending Smitty as our fanbase, we may not like the outcome.

It's not the Carolina Panthers vs. Steve Smith. It's the Carolina Panthers vs. the Baltimore Ravens. Forget grudges, forget history, just focus on the 11 members of the Baltimore offense.

It's not all about 89.

i will re-read my post to see if i incorrectly worded what i was trying to say, because i think you may have accidentally quoted my comment and replied to someone else's comment. i dont understand exactly what you mean by a couple of things in your comment.

factual reasons for departure...steve smith isnt here because he was getting paid a butt-ton of money to be a professional, but couldn't act accordingly. he was a bully here, with a sense of entitlement after over a decade of him being the star. even though he will be in the HOF and is our best player ever, and he filled a valuable need on the field, it was more valuable to the panthers to pay him $5 mil to play for someone else than to have his cancerous attitude around our young developing squad. gettleman, JR, ron, nor anyone else is responsible for smiths departure, STEVE SMITH alone is the reason he isn't a panther...which is why it makes me cringe when i hear him lying through his teeth about how he feels about the panthers. if he truly gave 2 fugs about us, he would have treated his opportunity and his team mates with the proper respect and not act like he deserved a reach around from the hand that fed him, and he would still be a panther.

as far as the money and what was detrimental to the team, is that we lost money and talent, all because steve smith couldnt keep his ego in check.

enjoy the game sunday, it must be a win-win for you, since you got vested interests in both sides. i personally wouldn't care if steve smith got dropped on his head and knocked the fug out....but like i said, im a panthers fan. keep pounding!

resposting the same non factual comments doesn't change a thing.

cam sure has been spreading the ball around a lot more since smitty left

and now flacco is no longer sharing it since he has smitty in his ear

Steve had the 2nd most targets on our team last year... and Lafell and Ginn had a respectable percentage of our total targets. The ball is being spread around the same amount. Flacco is throwing to Smith because he is the best wr on their team, just like he was on ours. I really don't think it has anything to do with him being in someone's ear.

Edit:  Actually, this year without 89, it is being spread around a little less.  Olsen's target percentage is the same as last year - 24% of all targets.  '13 Smith was getting 22.7% of the total targets. '14 KB is getting 25.2% of total targets.  50% of all targets are going to either Olsen or KB.

    • Extrapolate that with every QB for that matter. I guarantee you there's quite a bit of missed opportunities and yards left on the field for everyone. Many NFL QBs deal with WRs not putting in A+ effort, subpar o-line play and other deficiencies. The great ones are able to rise above these issues and create opportunities for plays. Guys like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes can both play in and out of structure, as well as find ways to get yards when things break down and mask mistakes by throwing guys open, creating opportunities from nothing, etc. Bryce Young has only shown he's able to make things happen when the rest of the team picks up his slack. Very rarely does he create those opportunities himself. When this is a consistent pattern year after year with Bryce where he shows up lackluster, it's a concern. This is year three and he should be elevating the team as a first overall pick this franchise traded up for.  He was far from elevating anyone against JAX. In fact, he needed others to elevate and create for him. Excuses may be fine for a rookie, but this is year three for the first overall pick. Not looking good so far.
    • I think the worst issue is coaching. Countless bad snaps, XL not getting his feet in or trying on runs plays, our centre being down field when he didn't need to be. All seem to be from poor coaching for me. I believe Canales is to soft to rip the players a new one when the fug up. Plus I honestly believe that Canales is slow getting his plays in giving Bryce less time to diagnose and adjust to the defence. Don't worry I could of head butted Bryce for that fumble and the 4th down throw aways but the other plays are explainable to me
    • No We have been making excuses for him for 3 years, and we have gave him a hundred chances  Bryce is a bust, and we need to cut him now and stop wasting everyone's time
