Michael Irvin on Cam

Captain Morgan

Recommended Posts

Outside of Marshall and Jeffery......who the fug cares who else you have if you have those two.

way to casually gloss over what i said. my post still rips yours apart.

we just got KB who is on pace to have a randy moss type of rookie year. That is a major, major deal. 2 drafts with DG we just drafted a soon to be superstar at WR. whose to say we aren't gonna get another talent at WO next year?

right now we have Olsen a top 5 TE (who is basically a close to 1,000 yard WR) and KB an up and coming talent Cam can grow with.

we do not lack talent on O, we just need more of it. And i'm positive that will come with good drafting.

that doesn't change the truth of the matter.

These players don't know how long their careers will last, most of them have families. Our own fans like to trash our players because of their contracts, but exactly how many of these fans do you think would seriously turn down the money in those circumstances?

It's a very valid observation.

“When we were praising Aaron Rodgers when he was moving around and making plays and we said he was the No. 1 quarterback in the league, he really had some tools around him. Here’s what happens when we have to take money from everybody to make sure the quarterback has $100-something-million contract, now, we have to give you less players to work with, and you have to make it look good. That’s where they’re falling off.

“They lost Greg Jennings and James Jones. Now you have Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb. And people are doing things to try to take those guys out. Yes, the powers in that division have shifted and they’ve shifted to the team that Green Bay plays coming up this week.”

I see Irvin's point and it is somewhat valid but he seems to forget that this is the 3rd year in a row that the Packers have started 1-2. The previous 2 years......they still won their division. Also, this other team he is referring to also has a $100-something-million- contract.

I'm not ready to crown Chicago or any other team in that division over the Packers yet. This weekend's matchup with the Bears will tell a lot, but I think the Packers make a statement.

I'm surprised how much sense Irvin made.

Don't always agree with him, but Irvin can actually be a pretty good commentator.

What I always remember most about him though is how his Hall of Fame induction speech was a long discussion on the theme of "I'm a lousy person".

There's probably not a person on that Oline that should be a starter outside of Kakil and he didn't even look it last week. It's a mess, and can't really afford to fix it all in one offsesason. It's funny how Gettleman is getting a pass on the Kony Ealy pick too, who has had 0 impact thus far even with Hardy out.

Valid, but to be fair outside of the Packers and sometimes the Bears that division has mostly been crap for the last few years.

Probably because he felt guilty about doing a big rail of cocaine before walking out to do his speech.

We got KB, but we've done a horrendous job at building an OL around Cam since 2011. No sugar coating that, sorry.

And all we've got since 2011 is KB. Olsen was a nice add but I'm just talking WR and OL.

And I totally agree with your post above this one. At the end of the day it's a business. The only reason Cam may take a bit less would be due to his other sources of income with his clothing line and commercials and endorsements. But for most of these guys, they try and should milk every penny they can from the owners. Never will I fault an athlete for that.

Tell us how you really feel, dude

Don't need to.  I got seniority!

Seniority!

Seniority!

Seniority!

I wonder how many people reading this know what it's about

That is why I will continue to have my feelings towards Cam's upcoming contract. I saw if his agent is looking for a massive contract, let Cam walk. Our offensive scheme doesn't call for a dynamic QB like Cam. If you are going to play him like a game manager, then why not just start DA or draft another rookie QB for pennies?
