The guys at Black and Blue Review are as horrified by this NFLN piece as I am

I mean... I don't even...

"We know Newton has no weapons, no OL, no defense, isn't 100% healthy, and the team has done nothing to support him in the draft, but why can't he overcome these things? Guys like Russell Wilson and Andrew Luck are able to do it with less talent!"

(The above is not a direct quote but a paraphrase of the gist of the piece.)

I mean WTF?

Video never loaded but that's probably both a me problem and a good thing because with only having access to the 5 comments I almost punched my computer.  I've had it with the negative Cam hit pieces.  It's beyond sick how they go after this young man for no other reason than clicks and hits.  Dude is good, bottom line.  He was worth the #1 pick, bottom line.  He is a leader, bottom line.  He is the future of the league, bottom line.

Last night they were talking about how Wilson has beat all the top QBs In his short career like they were playing one on one basketball.  I would have been fired as a commentator.  I would have been like Wilson is playing on one of the best defenses in the last ten years.  Why must our broadcast team keep bringing up this point over and over like he is personally beating these teams.  This is why players don't fudge with the media.

Here's a response to me from Yahoo NFL's Frank Schwab (who had nothing to do with the hit piece) about the video:

@YahooSchwab:

@tiger7_88 That made my head hurt. Bad. I don't get why people can't recognize how great Cam Newton is. There's no logical reason for it.

"Yes he is becoming a better passer, leader, game-manager, better at press conferences.  Yes he has all new receivers, all new left side of the line and all his running backs are hurt, but I'm still waiting for Superman.  He was supposed to transcend the position."  And two minutes before that he was focusing on Cam's attire at press conferences.  The dude really believes in comic book characters.

Did anyone else see the pregame show last night where Wilson admitted to being a bully growing up? Couldn't even imagine if Cam said something like that.

I watched the bullsh*t video, I've said before Kriegel has ZERO football knowledge and is just on that show to stir the pot. The guy literally doesn't have a clue. Like c'mon, when a retard like Kriegel starts bashing Cam because he's wearing a bow tie at a post game presser it goes to show how much these guys have to reach in order to find ways to knock Cam.

They just look stupid at this point and anyone with a brain knows that.

What a load of crap, the guys playing injured and can rarely run the ball so the defenses dont have to respect that, with a completely overhauled WR corps and a poor O-Line and he's throwing the ball better than he ever has done, I'd like to see Kaepernick try and play with a dodgy ankle, without his running ability 49'ers would be screwed

    • I'd hold on to Walker - we have no OT depth at all. Freeling is a block of clay - all the tools are there and he appears to have a great attitude. He needs serious work on his technique to realise his potential though.
    • From my watch last night: They weren't trading out of 19 unless it was a daft offer once Freeling got there. They were clearly antsy to get Hunter - and Minnesota actually called to offer the trade down. They weren't trading out of the third round pick once Brazzell fell to it (and Canales would have been happy with him in the second round). They traded back a lot on Day 3 - even if Morgan 'Babe Ruth'd' it with Lee, Hecht and Wheatley; they clearly weren't the only guys they would have taken at those picks. I'm curious to know which player caused the reaction at the start of day 2 (Dan Morgan): "of course they'd pick him"
    • Watching this confirms that this staff and front office is super high on Monroe Freeling. I wouldn't be surprised if he's gotta a real chance to win the starting LT job in camp. If he does, we can look to flip Rasheed Walker to a contender desperate for tackle help.   As for Ickey I still really like him and wanna extend him but based on how the staff was talking about Freeling it might be time for ickey to start taking some practice sets at guard if he wants to stay here as we are gonna have to have figure out a solution for the contracts of Lewis and Hunt.  My preferred scenario for the Oline in 2027 is Freeling-Ickey-Hech-Lewis-Moton.
