How do you feel as a Panthers fan if John Fox and the Broncos win the superbowl?

If Denver wins the Super Bowl i would be glad for John Fox but not Peyton Manning. If there is another commercial shown on tv of him hawking some product that he probably cares little about,i will be tempted to throw a shoe through the tv screen.

Are you referring to his Under Armour, Gatorade, Carolinas HealthCare System, Belk and Drakkar Noir endorsements?

He made it to the playoffs with The Golden Calf of Bristol as qb.  That alone should get him in the HOF.  :)

people keep on bringing this poo up, but answer these questions:

what was their record that year.?

8-8

what was the record of the other teams in that division?

chargers 8-8

raiders 8-8

chiefs 7-9

how many teams with winning records did they face?

5: bengals (9-7), titans (9-7), packers (15-1), lions (10-6), pats (13-3)

what was their record against teams with winning records?

1-4...beat the bengals in week 2.

additionally, they won against the dolphins (6-10), jets (8-8), vikings (3-13), bears (8-8), and split with all three teams in their division.

then tell me you are still impressed.

EDIT: added answers because i know people don't want to look

Impressed is relative.  But I think its a solid achievement.  Certainly he doesn't deserve the criticism he gets here. The guy has been successful everywhere he has been a head coach and at most of the places he was an assistant coach.  Maybe not superbly HOF successful, but successful none the less.  What more can you really ask of a coach.

He also made it to the Superbowl with an average Jake Delhomme at qb and nearly won.  Fwiw, I think his most impressive achievement was making it to the NFC championship game in the 2005 season.

Denver has a top five defense, they can thank Manning for that can't they?

if you can find anyone saying that fox blows as a defensive coach or denying that he knows what he's doing on that side of the ball then feel free to post it

Best thing for Fox was the divorce from Hurney and JR and this franchise to join with Elway, someone who is a proven winner and has proven he wants to win more than what we have going on here.

thankfully we have someone with a championship pedigree running the show now though, right?

he was a hair over .500 with no back to back winning seasons or back to back playoff appearances.  the panthers arguably peaked in 2005 having gone to at least the conference title game twice over the span of three seasons.  in the five seasons after that we had exactly one winning season and one playoff trip.  "a buh buh hurney and JR!  the roster purge in 2010!" isn't a valid response to that because we had slung around plenty of money prior to that point.

that's not blind criticism so much as an informed opinion.

some goon said Manning is the coach of the team, but the fact is their defense is almost as good as their offense and Manning has nothing to do with it.  and right now, no i dont think anyone here is of championship pedigree and i never suggested as much.

agh you got me you certainly wouldn't find anyone with a super bowl ring on this staff, let alone three of them

to your first point, you're just being obtuse as hell and i think you know it.  when someone says "manning is the coach of the broncos" you know what they're saying.

i do know what they are saying and it's that the real coach doesnt do anything.  if you want to go along with that to help you sleep at night, i dont really care so go on with it.

if you are referring to a backup LB on an 85 Bears team that would have been just as good without him or a scout for a mediocre team that got hot twice, then sure.

here i'll spell it out for you: fox probably has minimal input on the offensive side of the ball because manning is basically an offensive coordinator playing quarterback.  fox isn't particularly well known as an offensive guru.  i think those are pretty reasonable opinions to have.

oh for the love of god i'm talking about our general manager dave gettleman who has three super bowl rings

e: actually it could be four because he was with the broncos for two of theirs when they were quarterbacked by elway.  or were they "mediocre teams that got hot twice" too?  i personally wouldn't look down my nose at a lombardi trophy in a glass case at 800 south mint if the panthers were a "mediocre team that got hot" and won one this season.

anyway lol if you think talking about how a lombardi trophy-any lombardi trophy-"doesn't count" is any kind of effective tactic whatsoever.  if actually winning two of them in new york doesn't mean anything then how worthless is fox/elway's losing trip to the super bowl?  you're negating your own logic bro.
