Does Cam deserve "the contract" based on this season?

Let's not be fuging stupid. And yes that's a dumb idiotic post you just made. The guy is playing with an undrafted offensive line, all new wrs with a rookie being his best option, and has Shula as his OC. The question you need to be asking his how in the hell do we keep him, because he's out of here. You can bank on that.

It's Elite or bust with these people. People don't realize that very godo qbs don't row on tress.

But nah cut him and draft Winston. That'll solve our problems!!

You knew one of these were coming after every loss, regardless of who was responsible (even if it was the entire team). SMH

Why didn't the OP ask, "Why did Carolina extend Rivera another 3 years (or something to that effect)??

Fire Rivera please.

Because Gettleman has a free pass card until 2020 or something

Looking at one season, not even halfway complete to make a determination on this is about as funny as playaction with a minute left and 80 yards to go.

It is half way through the season.  Eight games is a pretty adequate sample size. Obviously if he dominated a few games in a row it might change things.  As of right now he's had two decent games this year.  He's starting to throw more picks, and he's been making some poor decisions from the pocket.  He also has a bad habit of not throwing the ball away.

I wouldn't matter who his OL is, his style of play lends itself to big sack totals.

I'm not saying bench him or start DA over him.  I would say that if DA was starting I'd put big money on sack totals going way down.

uh yes. he deserves it BECAUSE of this season. cam is really the only thing keeping us in games. this offensive line + shula + almost any other qb would automatically = 8 losses

And now the Neutered Newton, going back to all the Read Option and running crap, instead of keep doing what they were doing, then throwing some of that other stuff in.

    • No, you're right. It doesn't mean you can't call out his flaws and poor play. But it also doesn't mean you can't admit when he plays well and shows improvement. Not you personally, just in general I mean.
    • I will say, I do think there's a version of Bryce that could be really successful as a high-volume passer in a spread-based offense built around quick throws and timing-based intermediate throws with deeper throws schemed up around them. I actually think the power run based offense we're running is a poor fit for Bryce as it requires him to play under center far more often. It's a very traditional offensive approach whereas I think a scheme that spreads defenses out and lets Bryce distribute the ball quickly with anticipation and accuracy is the sweet spot for him. The key, of course, is to find a way to run the ball efficiently out of those formations. Our personnel right now (backs and OL) aren't good fits for that style of offense and I'm not sure it's a scheme Dave Canales favors very much either.
    • I root for him, and I hope for the best, as does essentially everyone. But that doesn’t mean you can’t call out flaws and bad plays. And that’s what a lot of people get wrong.  I hope I’m wrong and that he continues to improve a lot, I just doubt it. But I’ve been wrong before
