What is going on? Cam's QB rating keeps getting worse this season: 100.2, 98.5, 94.9, 84.8, 85.8, 72.6, 61.0, 45.2 (tonight)

ironically the play calling has the same decrease...hmmm

agree

playcalling has gotten worse, recievers have gotten worse... no check downs or dumps.... no olsen... no running back passes.... everything is 15 - 30 yard passes to KB

how in the world could you expect a QB to have a good rating with the play calls and reciever drops

All comes down on Shula. As teams get film, his long-developing, vanilla offense is getting more and more exposed. Not to mention the OL and RB injuries.

Cam had a pretty bad game tonight, but the one great drive we had? When Cam was allowed to audible and do his own thing. Maybe he always has the ability to and never does, or maybe, just for that 2nd half opening series he was allowed to, whatever the case, we need more of it. Also, more quick hitting routes. Something that needs to be repped and a part of the weekly gameplan. These 7 step drops are killing Cam right now because teams can sit back in zone and just wait for the OL to collapse. Nobody is open. Fans yell for him to get rid of the ball quicker, but when every route is a 10-15 yard dig or a post or a flag route, it's kinda hard to. He needs the slants, the quick hooks, the in-and-out routes 3 yards from the LOS. He needs the rollout and dump it 5-8 yards plays. These are the things that get him going.

Cam looked worse in his passing as the game went along, and I attribute it mostly to not letting him get a rhythm. I get you gotta take your deep shots, but EVERY PASS does not need to be a medium to long throw. You can throw it behind the sticks and get YAC. Worse case, it's as good as a run. If you let Cam get in a rhythm, he's more accurate. We have seen it all year and it's not just a Cam thing. It's a QB thing. He's still young. He can't just go out and, no matter the circumstances, hit every route perfectly. He's not Peyton. He's a different type of QB and that is fine. He just needs an offense that compliments and caters to what he needs and what he does. Shula is not giving him that, at least not consistently, and that is the problem.

Kind of matches our record which has steadily gone down too. Cam deserves some blame, although I know it's hard for many of you to see that. He was purely awful tonight.

we understand he deserves some blame... but i truly believe he is the best QB we've ever had and that we should keep him or roll the dice and get another pickles, moore, carr... oh dear Jesus no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i understand you guys want to blame the QB and that makes sense... but no one other than Brady, or Manning could do better with this bunch and these awesome play callers we have

    • Everyone knew the catch was secured and didn't move. That was clear to the entire audience. The only ones who thought it wasn't a catch were in the NYC home office. They knew they'd just offer an apology the next day.
    • NEVER FORGET!!!!   Canales was on no one's radar. Tepper couldn't get anyone to come here. He was all in on Ben Johnson. Nobody wants to work with Tepper, however Canales tenure may prove important for the next guy. This guy still has no idea what he's doing.
    • The 4th down play was poor execution by Chuba. He didn't want to get physical like Rico and cut North South to lean on his blocks from Tremble and Ekwonu for half a yard. Also, the 3rd down play before that Bryce audibled out to a QB run and almost got the 1st down was on Chuba for not knowing the play call leading to poor execution. You can see Chuba's confusion when Bryce had to realign him. Then Chuba thought he was getting the handoff and was slow to develop his double team on the DE with Tremble. Then Chuba hesitated on pushing the block and just ran to the sideline making Bryce have to loop around him. This pulled the DE away from Tremble forcing Chuba to chip on the DE late and leaving the safety as a free defender. Chuba was suppose to double down on the DE to let Tremble peel off to the safety. This allows Bryce to set up his run to the inside or outside after the safety commits. You can also see Tremble walk over to talk to Chuba after the play and Chuba shrugs which tells me he didn't know what to do. The audible would have worked on 3rd and the dive would have worked on 4th. The plays were good calls and drawn up well. The question is why was Chuba unprepared for those plays in two critical back to back plays? I like Chuba as a 1st down RB and passing downs, but I have always seen him lacking the power and vision to be a short yardage power back. Chuba didn't come prepared for the Saints game or he was thrown into a position at the 3 spot that he was never prepared for.
