Understanding Cam's situation

Even the stats say Cam played less time then last year and the sacks are only 1 or 2 off last years pace.

I really dont care how much Cam has played or how the stats are. This O-line i a million times worse than last year, its not even close.

So we very much agree

Yes and the coaching staff thinks so much more of Anderson that they trotted Newton out there with cracked ribs and an ankle that was not healed

If Anderson was the answer he would be playing

If I were Newton, I'd get the hell out of Charlotte unless Gettleman guaranteed me a line and at least an effort to get that offense well

What we are seeing right now is total bull poo and I'm pissed off about it as a season ticket holder

...it is all and only about the money. we opened the season with backups on the Oline...they got hurt and we are left with this steaming pile of horsesht...you cant sign talent with no money... period. Really don't understand why people are surprised about the situation and calling for heads. The only one I want to see gone is Shulong. Our receiving corps this year is better than last...but in this 1990's style offence you get what we are seeing...I don't want to see Cam leave but he has work to do... improving decision making ability with the ball and mechanics... over the next few years...we pay Cam and Luke the big money and what position you think the team will be in again... Gettle has some hard decisions to make and its a delicate balance looking to the future. We have big talent in important positions, we're on the verge of having another rookie of the year...

Yes it's hard to block for Cam when the Defensive lineman runs right pass you or bully your ass 5 yards back in seconds.

Look at every year he's been in the league.  His sack totals are on par with this years.  Like I just mentioned....even though Pickles is a far inferior talent look at how many less sacks he took in 2010.  Jake Delhomme had a horrible year in 2009 yet he took 75% less sacks then Cam.  There wasn't a huge personnel change along the OL between 2010 and 2011.

You think I hate Cam....I don't.  Guy has mad potential, but he takes to many sacks.  Him being "shell shocked" is not only on the OL but it's also him holding on to the ball way too long.  If you can't admit that, then there's really no point in discussing this with you.

Its funny how Denver can afford Peyton Manning and still surround him with great draft and free agent talent. Its funny how Dallas can be over the salary cap and field a great team. We really need to stop making excuses.

It's true.

Denver had talent in place before Peyton went there though.

Dallas has always had talent.  They have a great run game.  Don't be shocked if they hit a slide though.

And Dallas has improved their defense by signing players who were out of the league, retired or couldn't even make other teams roster. 3 of their players on the defensive line were one time panthers( Nick Hayden, George Selvie, and Terrell McClain.).

Claw what part of long developing plays do you guys not understand. Last year Cam was sacked 43 times and Brady was sacked 40. Is Brady holding the ball too long? The quicker the ball comes out, less sacks you take. Did you watch our defense play this year? Do you see opposing offenses get the ball out in 3 seconds on WR screens and quick out routes to avoid our pass rush? Its been a constant game-plan against us this year. Our offensive system doesn't do that

I'm beginning to think our offense is scripted.

    • Well even if we took diverging paths getting there...our overall assessment of Shough is the same (bolded) lol so I guess that's what matters.  What you call "playing at a level that looks like a veteran starter" is the same thing I'm referencing when I talk about his poise.  Although I still wonder how truly "bad" of a team the Saints are.  Their defense is middle-of-the-road, and their offense does have some good pieces (Olave, Juwan Johnson) outside of running back which is the position most everyone agrees is relatively plug-and-play.  I'm not going to pretend to know anything about the majority of NFL team's o-lines lol but I'm assuming Saints are not great there, although Shough's pressure % seems to have been quite low (and steadily improving) over the last four weeks (20 -> 16.7 -> 15.0 -> 13.0) so maybe they've been playing better as of late, or perhaps Shough himself deserves credit for that.   Some of the language I'm hearing about Shough, including talking about how he's way above league average in several categories, makes it sound like Shough is having a rookie season on par with like a CJ Stroud who established himself as basically a Top 5-10 QB his rookie season.  Maybe that's on me though, I don't mean to attribute anything to you that I'm sure you don't agree with.
    • Since your being selective (and somewhat deceptive) with your comparisons, I'll throw this up so we can compare apples to apples. Both Young and Shough have played against the Rams. Young went: 15/20 (75%) for 191 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INTs with a 147.1 QB rating Shough went: 15/24 (62.5%) for 176 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT with a 81.2 QB rating   Both Young and Shough have played against the Buccs. Young went: 21/32 (65%) for 206 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs with a 102.5 QB rating Shough went: 13/20 (65%) for 176 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT with a 65.4 QB rating   Both Young and Shough have played against the Falcons. Young went: 31/45 (75%) for 448 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INTs with a 123.2 rating Shough went: 30/43 (69.7%) for 243 yards, 0TD, 1 INT with a 74 QB rating   Seriously, in what world is Shough a better QB.
    • Freddie? For this game? Seriously? I don’t get it. Hope we get the best version of Freddie tonight.
