NFL.com 2014 redraft

I know its very hard to talk nfl 24/7/365..... but it was not long ago when just about everyone said give rookies three yrs before judgement. Me personally, I give the first complete year(otas, Mini cap, Trading camp, 4 preseason games, 16 games, no big injuries) and the next no big injury-free offseason. By then most times you can tell if the kids a player or not.

Midseason redraft....... soon redraft after draft... redraft before draft......

Bemjamin has 1 full season of college ball under his belt and has now played half an NFL season.  About the drops--Cam has been forcing the ball a lot, too much heat on touch throws.  That is hard to see on TV-just looks like a drop.  However, he has dropped some key passes, one cost us a game.  Can you criticize him for that?  Hell yes.  His job is to catch the football.  When the football hits his hands and he does not catch the football, it is an issue, if only for that second.

I think we have the following WRs in place for next season:  #2 (Benjamin would make a great #2 threat--we need him in single coverage with no help to maximize his effectiveness), #3 (Cotchery is a perfect #3), a #4 (Bersin is a solid fourth WR), and #5 (If Brown shows that he can be consistent on special teams, he gets the job).  Personally, I want a #1 with speed, range and hands--an AJ Green, for example.

I know that some will scream that Benjamin is a #1 and he could be, but to maximize his effectiveness, I want him vs. the second-best cb and in one-on-one situations.  That is when he has been dominant.

I think Benjamin would be perfect paired with a speedy guy.  Ideally they would be 1a & 1b...take your pick which would be which, it wouldn't really matter.  That receiving core, with Olsen included, would be scary to defend...particularly with Cams ability to run.

Corey Brown is a better WR than Bersin, and it's not really close,

I completely agree. If only we had kept Smitty

    • No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.
    • It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
