Talk of Peterson and Rice coming back quickly...

Hardy won't be back because of a technicality. Yeah, he signed the agreement to not come back until the case was adjudicated, but that was understood to be in November. If he misses more it's his lawyer or the PA he should be mad at for not having the foresight to know the case was likely to get pushed back. It's sad because his case is less appalling than either of those two, but he truly believes himself to be innocent and isn't trying to just plea some bullshit to come back.

The NFL is not punishing Hardy by placing him on paid leave. The only ones getting punished are Panthers fans and Hardy's teammates. This whole thing makes me sick.

The difference is both Rice and Peterson's cases have been adjudicated and they have moved on.

Has Hardy?

Don't you think it's a little unfair that rice and Peterson were charged with felonies, therefore they got faster trials and therefore shorter time not playing?

The people responsible are the fans who are so morally righteous that they can't forgive anyone. These social justice warriors believe in excommunication and harassment and do not care about things like freedom of speech or a fair trial. And many here are no better than the people who got Hardy kicked out.

The same principles were in place when that audio recording of Donald Sterling was made public. The guy said some horrendous things in a private conversation and people demanded he sell an entity he was the rightful owner of. And regularly people go after the jobs of people they disagree with, that is the new form of tyranny. Rob Schneider recently lost a job doing commercials for some company because he believes receiving multiple vaccines at the same time causes autism. Of course there is no scientific evidence to support this, but should someone really lose their job for having an unpopular opinion?

You could make a similar argument for Joe Paterno. He followed the law in his actions but for social justice warriors following the law isn't sufficient. You have to throw on the rainbow colored cape and get on the frontlines of social justice or face their wrath.

In the NBA Chris Andersen was 'excused' by the Denver Nuggets when police officers were investigating him for child pornography. After a lengthy investigation it was discovered that he was the subject of an elaborate hoax. Did the social justice warriors or the Denver Nuggets or anyone else compensate him for his damaged reputation and missed job opportunities? No. Social justice warriors answer to no one.

When you constantly have a visceral response to everything and you believe in never forgiving anyone and you think it's productive to make any criminal ineligble to work ever again and you forego due process you are no different from those who got Hardy exempted.

Obvioulsy it's absurd for a player to miss more time for contesting charges than for admitting guilt. This clearly encourages players to accept guilt to make themselves eligible to play. I'm no Hardy fan. The guy is trash personified and anyone making 13 million dollars should not be dating some slutty waitress. But at the end of the day we shouldn't be encouraging guilty pleas so players can play. The punishment for hitting a woman is 6 games. The punishment for hitting a woman and denying it is 18 games. That's basically what the social justice warrior has dictated to Roger Goodell.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
