Serious question: what would it take for you to want to get rid of Cam?

Whether by trade, release, not extending his contract, etc, what would make you decide that it's time to move on from Cam? Finishing the season the way he's playing now? Next year being the same as this?

Me? It would take a team giving up a massive haul in a trade, almost RG3-trade like.

If a Godfather trade offer came through, you obviously listen. But it would still be hard to get rid of him, unless he never recovers from the shellacking he's taken this year.

I would still be hesitant to trade him even if a massive trade offer came in. There would have to be another viable option available, whether in the draft or the trade, before I'd do it.

Oh no doubt. The only way I'd even consider trading him is if the offer was some miraculous thing, and we had a nice backup plan.

And even then, I honestly still may not do it.

He has already proven he can be a productive QB in NFL.

For me, I would have to be convinced there is a better option. Either a proven veteran Pro Bowler comes here or a legit blue chip draft choice.

Outside of that, which isn't likely, not a whole lot short of a complete implosion after the FO has put better pieces around him

equip cam with a good offensive line. Wide receivers that can create separation, out run linebackers...when the opposing defense successfully covers your receivers with linebackers, you have a problem. Give cam the proper coaching that he obviously needs, that coach must also serve as a mentor, praising cam when he deserves praise and getting in his grill when he gets off track...it's called tough love ( hue jackson would have been perfect). An OC that knows what the fug he's doing, has the ability to call plays that actually bring out the best of our players strength., has the mental aptitude to formulate game plans as well as in-game adjustments. until the panthers equip cam with these necessities it's impossible to properly evaluate him to determine if he is the QB for us. Until then, you don't trade him.

    • The thing I hate about strength of schedule is that NFL teams change so much over a year and past success or failure doesn't really dictate future success or failure
    • Considering you previously struggled to understand BTT despite it being explained in a video, write-up, and multiple replies, I get why this might be a little too complex for you. Happy to clarify again! Just let me know which part tripped you up this time. 😉
    • And, honestly, there's only so much you can attempt to do in the draft. And every draft pick is a roll of the dice. But that's where grabbing a ton of UDFAs, and targeting the best, makes a big difference. Sure, their individual chances of getting a hit here is less, but that shotgun pattern might just hit something.  Right now, we need bulk, partly to rebuild and partly to dilute the deep level of stank that has developed on this team in the last six years. If we're going to rebuild a culture built around culture, accountability and winning, then these UDFAs we bring in each season have to be the wash water that gets out that leftover dirt.  Canales seems to be a smart, culture-first, build up the good ones kind of guy. I like that and I hope he can keep it going here. But he was working against a locker room that had been taught to lose and taught to distrust or ignore coaches. He's got his work cut out for him, still. He does seem to have it moving in the right direction and that's something I was pretty amazed with by the end of last season.
