Cantwell or Moore?

Truth is, we don't know poo about either.

Moore hasn't played a real game in forever and usually sucks or doesn't do anything in preseason, and Cantwell looked well in his playing time, but again, only preseason.

Moore started 3 games for us in the regular season and would've won all 3 if the Cowboys game wasn't rigged. Thats far more than Cantwell's 1 good drive in preseason.

Exactly...Moore doesn't look spectacular in the preseason because he is largely playing with guys that aren't gonna be on the team...put delhomme with those guys and you will get the same result...what matters with moore is the way he came in when called upon and delivered two victories out of three chances against playoff teams

Everyone knows our team is built on the run so without Dwill in the backfield and a strong running game, our passing game is going to suffer

So everyone please stop all this nonsense with Moore v Cantwell

True, but nobody knows if he could repeat any of that success. It was what three years ago, and he has shown nothing since then (of course, through no fault of his own). Him getting bumped behind a McCown just through camp kinda forces me to look the other way. We just shouldn't worry about our number 3 competition. One's a noob, and the other although having playing experience, learning time, and wins as a starter couldn't get past a McCown on a depth chart. We might as well start looking at the '10 draft if we ever get to this point.

To play the rhetoric game here, if Cantwell was so good, why didn't he supplant Brohm? He had ample opportunities to do so. He was supposed to be a young, upcoming and improving QB and he didn't deliver. To tell you the truth, the fact that he hadn't been able to steal the #1 spot away from Brohm was disappointing.

Add in that he wasn't even drafted... you begin to see my point, here, no?

:D

He got bumped due to a broken leg and when he came back he's fighting McCowns wallet as much as he is his performance on the field

Yes, that's why he was initially bumped down, but it doesn't take that long for a leg to repair. If Moore had anything to show, he would have gotten his spot back by now. Yes, Moore having yet to reclaim his spot does in fact say something.

Moore stepped in while Jake was injured and delivered against NFL starters. Starters being the key word. Cantwell was in against the 4th team defense and it was only one preseason game. Let's see how the rest of the preseason goes before we answer this one...

Him getting bumped behind a McCown just through camp isn't going to make him look any better. We just shouldn't worry about our number 3 competition. It was at the end of the 2007 season. We all know Fox trusts a veteran at QB more than a rookie, which is why we signed Testaverde to start in '07 and why McCown was handed the #2 spot. Moore is going to have to earn the #2 spot and if he does, which he is playing better than McCown at the moment.

That was the excuse two years ago. Moore has learning time now and already has some experience. What's the problem now? The leg injury that already has had time to heal? Is Moore's play that bad that going with McCown's super-underrated veteran "experience" is actually considered the better bet?
