TD Thinks Sean Payton ran up the score in 2013

"They got a big lead on us and they were still dropping back trying to throw the ball deep. That speaks volumes when you have a team down and it's late in the fourth quarter and you're still trying to throw the ball deep," Davis told Panthers beat reporters on Thursday, according to the Charlotte Observer.

"That's their offense. That's their team. They can run it, do whatever they want to do. But that's a sign of disrespect."

During that particular game, the Saints were up 24-6 in the fourth quarter when Brees led the team on another scoring drive, completing an 8-yard pass to Jimmy Graham for a touchdown that put the Saints up 31-6. The Saints ran only twice on the 9-play drive, for a gain of one yard.

Saints outside linebacker Junior Galette knows the chippiness that goes along with playing the Panthers. Davis was fined more than $16,000 for a cheap shot on Graham in the team's last meeting, a 28-10 Saints win in October.

"They play us tougher than any other divisional team," Galette said.

The Panthers have accused the Saints of running up the score more than once. They seethed in 2011 after the Saints went for individual records in a 45-17 blowout.

"Definitely, you could feel it," defensive tackle Dwan Edwards said after the Panthers beat the Saints 35-27 in September, 2012. "Coach was pretty adamant about reminding us what happened last year with them running up the score. Guys don't forget that. It definitely gave everyone a little extra motivation."

New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton said he's never tried to run up the score against the Carolina Panthers -- or anybody else.

"We're not in the business of doing that," Payton said Friday. "We're in the business of being smart, our players being healthy. It's too important."

Sean Payton is the poor man's Bill Belichick. He wants to be that evil but can't quite get there

More like a bastard youngin'. I respect a coach who knows his place and job, that is not to give a poo if the other team is losing by 30 points. I want a coach with a killer mentality without Bountygate or Spygate issues. As much as I hate the Hood, he is the best and I sure respect him. Sean tries to hard.

    • I would write “give remmers tight end help” on a yellow sticky note and stuck it in shulas playbook the night before superbowl 50.
    • And don’t worry about Bryce he will be great… Peyton Manning had a horrible rookie year too 😂
    • Nothing wrong with it at all until you start telling others they are bad fans or not fans. But you are the good fan because you never say negative stuff about the team.    I did many years of that type of uninformed fanning because there really was no info and coverage like there is with the internet.    I mean, I used to go to the store and get Street and Smith’s annual football issue. That was about the extent of what you could get if you didn’t live in a big city with sportswriters covering and reporting.  There was no video to look at or replay the games and if you didn’t live in the market you could only rarely see your football team play.    TI have fanned since being a kid in the early 1960s, and as late as 1995 - ‘97 I lived in Atlanta and good luck getting more than 3 or 4 games a year on TV. No radio either. No print coverage outside of an AP recap and box unless they played Atlanta.  People today that have always had the network connection don’t know.    I wasn’t very educated about the Panthers until I finally got internet.
