I think there is more to it than that. First of all it needs to be early in the game, secondly you need to be ahead in points or way behind, and finally your team has got o have momentum...so yea this time was a good play and I won't argue but Shula abuses the third and short to the point other teams should be expecting it, I know I am.

With the lead...the way we are playing...and single coverage...that was actually a good time to take a shot.

Won't argue that but it's his trend to do it regardless.  

 

If he didn't have the reputation of constantly doing that then I'd actually give him credit for a good play call.  

 

The fact is this staff only comes out firing with their backs against the wall.  It shouldn't require that.

That's different than floating a long one into no man's land. That was one on one coverage. No excuses for not catching that one.

Not to mention there wasn't a single safety on that side of the field as he was in the box.
