MiMike Williams waived

I was just getting ready to post this.  I wonder if it's even worth it at this point.  I guess it depends on what you think of his long term viability.

There's no doubt Williams has talent. When the Bills were openly shopping him a few weeks back, there was some interest, though not enough to generate a trade. Assuming he reaches a settlement in Buffalo and becomes a free agent, it wouldn't be surprising to see him end up on a roster before the end of the season.

In his NFL career, Williams had the most success under Raheem Morris but started to see his production drop under the watchful eye of disciplinarians like Greg Schiano and Marrone. Perhaps a different vibe will unlock what is left of his potential.

In general, I am like "Why the hell not?"

G-man's old team wanted him.

He is better than Jerricho Cotchery.

I don't know what happened to him.  Maybe laziness.  But he's got a lot of talent and not that "combine warrior" talent ala Stephen Hill.  He's displayed a lot of good abilities as a receiver on the field throughout his career.  Just has failed to put it all together.  I'm not saying he would here.  He probably wouldn't.  But I would like the signing, especially if Philly's injury is serious.

On one hand, everyone talks about how cash-strapped we are.  On the other hand, people just immediately shoot down the idea.  At least you can give a reason: He has had a few off field issues.

Call me a rebel, but I like the idea of giving castoffs a genuine "second chance".   It makes for a team with some hunger and attitude.  That, and the fact that we are fuged up again next year as far as the cap is concerned and need some legit weapons for Cam and the rest of the offense.

When the Raiders had these types of guys back in the day, they were feared.

I would at least work him out (him and Da'Rick Rogers).  Yeah, I said it.

Nah. He had an actually good and productive preseason for what it was.

What happened to him?  Politics and Sammy Watkins.

    • Jack Roslovic: Only 2 other UFA, right-handed centers age 28 or under had more points (39) than him- Sam Bennett (51) and Pius Suter (46). There were 4 other centers age 33 and older who scored more: Gireaux (37), Marchand (37), Tavares (34), Granlund (33).  Unless the Canes go old, if they let Jack walk, they won't get a center who scored more.  Thoughts?
    • nope     This is why we come back every year.  Hope springs eternal
    • It's important to differentiate criticism and hate. I can't speak for that individual you quoted. But most people who have been critical of the Tepper's have been so because both of them have made it a point to put themselves front and center and in the middle of team operations and we have been largely horrific more often than not as a result. If people are making derogatory remarks about her that should be met with an appropriate response but if people are being defensive just because she's being criticized all I can say is people should get used to it. Both her and David would have been getting absolutely skewered by the media and the fans if this were a big market franchise. The Lakers are finally being sold off after years and years of public criticism of Jeannie Buss and even though I'm the furthest you could go from being a Lakers fan just about anyone you could meet who is familiar with the NBA would say the criticism was certainly valid.
