Some ugly football this weekend

Mr. Scot

Late in the season, it's not unusual to see games on the schedule that make you wanna hold your nose.  Games between teams that have proven to be mediocre and/or just plain awful are inevitable by this point in the year.  Some contests feature teams that have been bad all year and others teams that have stumbled as the season went on.  It's really just a quirk of scheduling that this happens.

But even with that in mind, this weekend's schedule...well, check these out:

- Titans vs Jaguars

- Vikings vs Dolphins

- Bills vs Raiders

- Giants vs Rams

- Falcons vs Saints

Sadly yes, Panthers vs Browns probably falls into this category too.

The Tennessee-Jacksonville game is actually tonight.  Both teams are 2-12.  Florio pointed out that this may well be the worst prime time matchup in the history of the league.  I may watch just for the sheer comedy of it.

Then on the other hand, you've got probable blowout games like these:

- Eagles vs Redskins

- Ravens vs Texans

- Lions vs Bears

- Patriots vs Jets

- Packers vs Buccaneers

Green Bay and Philly have the potential to make their games ridiculously lopsided.

So yeah, this is one ugly weekend of football we've got coming up.

I remember back in 2005 the Texans and 49ers were both absolutely awful and wound up playing each other on Week 17 with the loser expected to get the #1 pick in the draft.

San Fran won and wound up picking 6th where they took Vernon Davis.  The Texans took Mario Williams at the top, famously passing on Reggie Bush.

One thing is certain, Mr Scot knows ugly. I would listen.

Insert joke here

Games that appear on paper to be blow outs, rarely turn out to be in the NFL.

Often true, but I'd say the Packers-Bucs and Eagles-Redskins games are ones with very real blowout potential.

Titans-Jags on the other hand might set the game of football back a decade or more.

Titans/Jags is really the only unwatchable.

My silver linings for the lower tiered games:

-You've got OBJ in the Giants game

-Vikings/Dolphins could actually be good (Both mediocre teams w/ good defenses)

-The crappiest team that has a QB in place (Raiders) versus the strongest team without a QB in place (Bills)

-Falcons/Aints has playoff implications

I actually think RG3 beats Sanchez in one last hoorah in Skinsville.  That's my sleeper.

    • I'm used to people crapping on the panthers in public spaces. I used to have to defend Cam fugging Newton until I was blue. I come here to talk Panthers and it is literally the same 5 posters you see in this very thread saying the same things, every single day. it's not about having tough skin, it's the constant negativity by the same people. its boring, its annoying, it clogs discussions. this place has really changed and I regret signing back in. I only have like 5 mins a day to spend consuming panthers content and its always the same posters and same crap. we used to have a 6'6 gunslinging battery ram, and he would constantly get dragged through the mud for not being enough, or doing this or that or not diving on a fumble. at the end of the day, it's a people problem. people love to bitch and complain. they'll never be content, they'll never just sit back and root the team on. we had one of the best teams in the NFL on the ropes to move onto the next round of the playoffs while the stadium was alive and well and that wasn't even enough to just enjoy the show.
    • I mean Stroud had a down year, but it was still better than Bryces best year
    • Anybody else see that the panthers have the fewest miles travelled of any team this year? Don’t know it matters too much but it can’t hurt 🤷‍♂️
