At stake: NFC South Title/ Playoffs vs Top 10 draft pick

Win next week and we have a chance to have an overall winning season thanks to the playoffs so yeah something that happens next weekend can have a hand in changing that. If we make it to the nfccg we would be at worst 9-9-1 which is a winning season. Can't get there without a win Sunday.

That is some serious lawyer math. Everyone wants to be optimistic but this team got blown out  6 times this year. We have 1 win against a winning team. We aren't very good. All these players that are "coming on strong". Have been playing the Vikings, Saints, Falcons, Bucs, and Browns. The only reason there is an ounce of optimism right now is 3 teams in our division are equally bad.

It's a losing season. Nothing that happens next weekend will change that. When you have a losing season, you talk draft.

Have to disagree...

Beating the Falcons will change that. Making the playoffs means that we've done something that has never been done in this division... win it back to back. Gives us an opportunity to make something good happen in the playoffs.

You can talk draft... but if we beat the Falcons and get into the playoffs... Im not going to sit here and be jealous of the Falcons/ Saints draft picks.

There are some teams who hardly ever get early picks in the draft and they keep winning. We can make the playoffs and still get what we need in the draft. That's all I'm saying.

do people really worry about the draft that much? Who cares. I want a playoff game, I just don't want a NFCs title with a losing reacord in the poo division to hide the fact Shula needs to be fired. And if we can't beat the Falcons next week, Rivera does too.

What is the purpose of a good draft pick?.............to build a team where you are in a position to get to the playoffs and win...........

Anyone see a problem with losing this coming week to fulfill that effort?

BTW ........I watch the Steeler win 4 SBs in 6 years based on the genius of Chuck Knoll draft picks which would have been late picks on any other team's draft strategy..............unknowns like Mean Joe Greene, Jack Lambert, Jam Ham, Mel Blount, Mike Webster, John Stallworth...........all HOFers picked often from unknown football programs.............

The genius in the draft if not how high you pick.........but what you know about the picks....

Of course my point was not that there is no talent early in the first round, simply there are high quality player throughout the draft. Couple that with the infrequency of our post season appearances and Id rather have the win and the Division Title.

Even if that means we are one and done.

Absolutely not

All those guys you listed were drafted in between dozens of failed players

Good talent lasts until the third round. After that, the guys who make it in this league are picked very few and far between.

    • Over previous years? Sure is 😆
    • An odd little vibe I've noticed here of late: some folks are "all or nothing" to an absolutely extreme level when it comes to Bryce. Here's a bit of truth telling though: There are, in fact, things Bryce does well. Likewise, there are areas in which he's improved over his time here. He has, on several occasions now, legitimately helped us win games. On the flipside, there have been failures in other areas as well as coaching that we're not in any way his fault.  And finally , it is also genuinely possible that the team may see him as the future, even if we don't. The craziest part, though? It's actually possible that they're right and we're wrong. All of this is true, and more, yet if you accept any of these premises people go from zero to apesh-t in under three seconds 😳 Anything less than total disavowal of Bryce and / or agreement that he's the worst QB of all time and suddenly you're a "stan". Oy 🙄 The reality though?  Bryce is indeed an NFL quarterback. Not a great one, probably backup level good, and I've seen way worse. Now, if you run that statement through your personal Google translator and it comes back with some version of "I want to throw 50 million a year at Bryce for the next 10 years", that's not really my issue it's yours  I don't wanna make him the franchise quarterback, but it's not my call. Win or lose, the team is going to do what they think is best. And as always, if it disagrees with what I think we should do, I'm gonna hope I'm the one who's wrong. Internet clout means nothing. Watching my favorite team win at my favorite sport meas fun 😁
