My wife got hit in the back of the head with a growl towel at the Steeler game when they were throwing them in the 4th quarter. I thought she was going to choke one of those mullet wearing green teeth mofo's.

Seems that every time I bang my seat for noise the opposing team makes their 3rd down conversion. So I stopped doing it.

Personally, I think the whole "towel" schtick is stupid. Don't want one. Don't need one. Pittsburgh can have that silly tradition.

An argument in favor of the towels is that seeing a sea of white (or whatever color) can fire the crowd up and make fans cheer/yell harder.  Of course, that shouldn't be necessary at a playoff game, but hopefully it just adds something extra.  Plus, we are talking about a Panthers crowd here, so I'm in favor of anything that encourages fans to participate.
