NFL head of officiating partying with Jerry Jones son last night?

Executives from several NFL clubs expressed extreme disappointment and anger at a TMZ video that appears to show the league's head of officiating, Dean Blandino, out for a night of partying in Los Angeles with Cowboys EVP and son of owner Jerry Jones, Stephen Jones.

Blandino appears to be among a group of males and females captured stepping off the Jones' Cowboys-themed party bus and toward a club where paparazzi awaited outside. The Cowboys hold training camp in temperate Oxnard, Calif., and it is not unusual for team officials to take the bus to LA for dinner, etc.

The reactions to the video by officials of several teams -- none of whom I spoke to are a natural rival of the Cowboys or had any personal issues with Jones or Blandino -- as well as former high-ranking team officials, were quite visceral. Several expressed concern at the appearance of potential competitive balance issues, given the sensitive nature of Blandino's role and his authority on matters of officiating and interpretation.

CBSSports.com reached out to Blandino for comment, but he has not responded.

I believe in these controversies only to a point.

While that flag was picked up, both teams still had to play the rest of the game.

Similar to the "fixing" of basketball games by officials in the NBA, the players still have to hit and miss their shots.

He should be fired. That is completely unprofessional and a huge conflict of interest. Unbelievable. But with the worthless commissioner, it's likely nothing will happen, unless he's caught on camera dragging one of those girls out of an elevator. We know how the commissioner always acts so fast in those situations.

I recall an old Minnesota Vikings coaches show with Bud Grant (I said it was old), where Bud was reviewing the previous day's game where an official called a touchdown incorrectly for the other team and there was a big stink about the referee's mistake.  (it wasn't a touchdown, as Bud pointed out on the Vikings' version of the tape shown on the show).

He said, "yup, that shouldn't have been a touchdown.  Now look at this..."

And he showed the Vikings' tape of an earlier Vikings touchdown in the same game.  The tape showed that too was not supposed to be a touchdown..... but nobody noticed.

Bud said, "so let's take away both of those touchdowns because the referees got 'em wrong.  Guess what?  We still lost the game.  Those touchdown calls didn't affect the rest of the game"

=-=

Did this really happen, or is my memory really bad?  Probably more the latter than the former.  Interesting story if it is true.

    • At this point the Tepper's seem to be leading you around by the nose based on how much time you spend carrying water for them so I'm not surprised you're struggling. We are the only team who saw fit to install Andy Dalton with his zero career playoff wins as a culture cornerstone and a key mentor. Even the putrid Saints wanted no parts of that. Truth hurts 🤷‍♂️
    • They have drafted two QB's since they took Hurts in the 2020 Draft. Tanner McKee(6th - 2023) and Kyle McCord(6th - 2025). In that span we have drafted Bryce Young(1st - 2023) and Matt Corral(3rd - 2022). Technically, we have invested significantly higher draft capital on QB's(albeit one less than they). It's not the investement that is the issue, it's the results. Corral was literally not a rosterable player with a THIRD ROUND PICK. We gave up a king's ransom for Bryce to basically get Davis Mills results(so far).
    • No QB from the draft or free agency was going to change this being a losing season for us. I mean we’re rebuilding, everything we’re doing is meant to be for winning tomorrow.
