So Cotchery is signed to a 5yr deal?

I don't understand how he caught 10 TD's last year...

It's mind blowing.

Its pretty simple, Steelers had Browns, Sanders and Wheaton all guys with great speed, teams weren't worried about Cotchery  he was getting covered by linebackers in 70% of his snaps

Cotchery seems like an ideal slot guy, has sure hands (aside from the ball that he dropped early in the game), runs nice routes, etc.

What you guys need is a formidable #2 IMO.

I don't consider kb a #1, and he has a lot to show to prove he is. He is a great red zone threat and good for an occasional highlight grab, but he is not consistent, drops too many balls, and is a subpar route runner.

He would be an ideal #2 imo. We need speed across the board at WR. I always said Cotchery was strictly a slot guy or #4. He was capable of being a quality #2, which is why I found his signing as a solution to our mass WR exodus laughable. But to be honest, he was an even bigger disappointment than I expected this season. At the very least, I expected consistency and veteran savvy. He rarely provided either... Way more drops than expected for someone I viewed as having excellent hands, and too many lapses in judgement.

As someone else said in this thread, I would not mind one bit if we cut every receiver on the roster and started over minus Kb and maybe Philly Brown, but I don't think he's a long term solution guy either... He's the type of guy that hangs onto the last reciever spot each year if your team is legit.

Well for starters he wasn't being lined up in the backfield.

that poo blew my mind. i'm far from a scheme guru so i don't know how common that really is, there might be legitimate reasons to keep running a receiver out of the backfield and i imagine it's useful for hot routes and screens as well as reverses… but jesus that should not be your bread and butter, it should be in your bag of tricks.

He is usually back there as the 3rd option if cam decides to not hand off or run it himself, he tosses to cotchery. Just another case of a player not being used correctly

No, what we need is a WR who has speed and potential to be a #1.  That, among other things.

The biggest difference between us and the Seahawks right now is the fact that our defensive secondary is not as good, especially at the safety position.  We can't win with a bunch of "no-name" WRs on the roster like Seattle can because we give up too many big plays on the back end of the defense.  Moreover, Baldwin and Kearse are vastly underrated in their own right. Both have veteran moxie, experience, good hands and are excellent route runners.

Once we shore up those areas and acquire a WR1 that can actually stretch the field, then maybe we can beat you guys for once.  Until then, I guess we'll be your little brother.

i am comfortable keeping Cotchery. save the winning drop in the Cincinnati game, he has had a positive effect on the field. he is a veteran and a leader that can provide invaluable experience and advice to Benjamin and Brown. and he and Cam do seem to have some chemistry.

retain him.

harper on the other hand... yea get rid of him

The party I was at the moment we saw that formation we all looked at each other like are you serious?

It fooled nobody and disguised nothing. Meanwhile no end arounds to Philly that has been working.
