peyton manning contemplates retiring and broncos/elway says, "let's not make any rash decisions. why not take some time out and think about it and see how you feel?"

smitty contemplates returning and the ravens/newsome says, "let's not make any rash decisions. why not take some time out and think about it and see how you feel?"

But there's nothing unusual about that, right?

I mean, that happens all the time.  Like with...ummmm....

...or 4) make up some poo

Maybe cutting SS was the right move, I don't know but this kind of speculative camel dung and the demonizing of SS makes me want to puke. Maybe he would have put up 1,500 yards and retired if he were a Panther.

Lol, number 1 is maybe the only thing slightly speculative. Even then, it has been reported numerous times why no other receivers could develop with Smith.. you can go research that yourself. Other than that, #2 and #3 are simply facts. Facts that have already happened, not really sure how you can argue with reality..

Yup, just like you kept seeing people here saying "But just think how awesome our WR corps would be with KB and Smitty!1!1!11!!"

Yea, we could 1) Stunt KB's future growth, 2) never give Philly a chance to shine, and 3) Not have the cap savings this year and moving forward. Really awesome, yup.

Bing...My exact thoughts. You sumed it up very neat and nice.

Smith haters in full effect

Tired of hearing the smith wasn't a mentor bs, name one receiver that left Carolina and lit it up with another team while smith was here........I'll wait

To say he would have stunt Kb development is inaccurate

Find one that developed with Smith here.

Better yet, find a good one that credits Smith with helping him develop.

Telling a player who's undecided about returning to take some time and think about it is nothing unusual.  Happens all the time.

Having a player who's already affirmed that he definitely wants to come back, and telling that player, "well, maybe you should think about it" is pretty odd.

If that's ever happened before, I don't recall it.

Pretty sure that is what the Lakers told Kobe Bryant after last year's season was over.
