Remember 1988

that year was a blast. i finished high school a semester early and went to college outside of philly that january and had my 18th birthday there. that first semester i had one girlfriend from maine and two from long island in addition to one i left back home in north carolina and a few other flings. that fall semester in '88 i settled down to just one from upstate NY. and by settled down i mean i only messed around with one other girl from virginia.

i went to some fun concerts that year. def leppard (sooooo many girls in spandex), queensryche, whitesnake, acdc, cinderella, robert plant, and i'm sure i'm forgetting a few others.

i was looking at a list of movies that came out just to see and i was surprised at how many movies there were that i loved. tha adventures of baron munchausen and dangerous laiasons (both inroduced us to uma thurman whoch made them worth watching), young guns and die hard, beetlejuice, willow, tequila sunrise, biloxi blues, twins (don't judge me), the seventh sign, rattle and hum, big, the great outdoors, funny farm, the serpent and the rainbow, a fish called wanda, midnight run....nothing really spectacular in there but still some good memories.

there was this one wierd horror movie i remember seeing that year that i never heard anything about afterwards and i can't remember the name. i think it  was a movie about a serial killer showing up at a movie about some crazy guy who went on some killing spree. i'm probably confused with that last part, but i remember that pat of it took place at a movie theater. there was this one point in the movie that they showed one of those spinning hypnotic wheels on the whole screen. there was lots of funky stuff in it and i can't remember anyone that was in it.

tv was kind of meh, imo, that year. cheers, cosby show and a different world, and a few others, but i didn't watch much. we didn't have tvs in our dorm rooms. there was one in each dorm in the lobby and i never really had chances to control the tv and even then i rarely paid attention to what was going on.

looking back on that year, it was amazing how much i crammed into that year when it seems these years all i have to do is blink and it's over.

    • I did not, this reminds me of another live action type video game that never made it and has a huge cult following. Thanks for the 90s nostalgia frend!! My gods do I miss that era at USAs peak and it was my best on many aspects too.
    • Many layers my frend- Panthers had a draft recently. They picked 4 defense players. Each player picked 11, 22, 33, 55 as their number. For some players that number match the round or pre-draft round rank, example- Prince was a 3rd rounder and choose 33. Nic was a 1st rounder on some mock drafts and Dan Morgan said they had him as a 1st, he picked 11. Cam Jackson recently switched his number to 55, same as draft and has been telling Dave he wants to be special over and over.  The 44 was to add GOAT feels, thoughts, and more intrigue to this rookie phenomenon. X files cause it was a great TV show and maybe it was playing when this theory came together.......   I hope this helps!
    • The best things Purdy has are certainly important tools for any QB. His accuracy his timing his decision making etc. I feel like he is a high end Teddy Bridgewater. You can compete and win in the regular season with this especially in a weakened NFC but where his limitations come into focus is when you are trying to contend for a Super Bowl you are going against elite and in some instances generational QB's like Mahomes. And when the time has come for him to go up against Mahomes he simply can't get it done. Now certainly he is not alone in that regard and people will point to another highly regarded QB such as Josh Allen who also cannot get by Mahomes. But the difference I see is Allen is not IMO at a phsyical disadvantage in that matchup whereas Purdy is. And that is with what had been to this point a comically stacked roster around Purdy and let's be clear we cannot understate that regardless of which side of the fence we land on in this debate. Purdy has had a top 5 roster and a top 5 coach. And the last time they went to the Super Bowl they leaned on McCaffrey extremely heavily. Now with what they are having to pay him and divert limited resources elsewhere they face a steep climb to get back to the Super Bowl let alone actually win it.
