Hardy Suspension Likely

The demonizing of the woman here and defense of hardy is laughable and pathetic. Was the party girl hanging around Hardy because he had money and was an NFL player? Duh, like she is something out of the ordinary. They both know the game and Hardy played on the edges. Choir boy was doing blow, club running and one night he slapped this chick around. Not exactly breaking new ground for a professional athlete. She didn't call the police, some chick that was there did, at that point she probably felt trapped or maybe saw an opportunity, who knows. Obviously she didn't want to go through with it after the poo hit the fan and flaked every chance she got. Once the appeal for jury trial happened then the Hardy lawyers started putting out the feelers for a number to make it go away and by gawd they found common ground. Then they all lived happily ever after. The end.

How do you know he even slapped her around??

Nobody was arrested at the scene of the crime. .meaning nobody look beat up enough for the police to take action.. plus she refused to be treated at the scene. .

Then 10 hours later she goes to the hospital and makes a police report. . Where was she for 10 hours.. what was she doing. .

Also Greg called 911 1st not the neighbor..

Roethlisberger also pre-dated the Ray Rice video and the NFL's image problems.

Fair or not, the league views Hardy as a reminder of that story.

I agree with the change in the environment theory. . But the Nfl may come to the same problem ..that the Panthers did when investigating this case.. Nobody in it is credible. . And all you have is a he said she said where nobody is credible. ..

As mentioned in one of the articles, the NFL doesn't have to meet thkind of standard a prosecutor does.

"It probably happened" is enough for the NFL.

So now that the court case is settled and the dust has started to clear, attention now turns to Hardy's future. Sources inside the Panthers organization continue to state Hardy will not be pursued by the Panthers. Regardless, Hardy will be one of the heaviest sought after free agents of 2015.

One factor that will determine Hardy's worth is the possibility of a looming suspension.

While Hardy was not found guilty in a court of law in NC (the judge trial no longer valid), there is a precedence set by Ben Roethlisberger in 2010. Roethlisberger received a 6 game suspension for an incident where the prosecutors decided not to even press charges.

Like Roethlisberger, Hardy is cleared of all criminal activity. However, also like Roethlisberger, Hardy showed judgement that reflected poorly on the NFL. Roger Goodell will sift through the original court transcript and the settlement agreed to by his accuser and likely come to the conclusion that Hardy is not blameless in this whole mess.

We can also look at the Adrian Peterson debacle last season. Peterson spent time on the exempt list and then was also suspended when he pleaded no contest to his charges. Peterson's court outcome was different, but the damage done to the NFL's image was the same.

Make no mistake, the punishments handed down in these instances have less to do with the cases and more to do with the damage done to the NFL brand. If the damage is done though player misconduct, there will be monetary punishment.

If the NFL wishes to maintain any credibility they still have in matters of violence and abuse, they will have no other choice but to suspend Hardy. Suspending Hardy will server two purposes. First, it will penalize him where it hurts the most, in his wallet, something the exempt list did not do. Secondly, it will again set an example and serve as a reminder to all other NFL players that the 2015 season will be of zero tolerance to domestic abuse.

For these reasons, I expect Greg Hardy to spend the first part of the 2015 season on suspension.

Not sure if anyone else mentioned this, but Goodell has no legal right to see the terms of the settlement between Holder and Hardy. Now, he can strong arm Hardy that if he didn't allow him to know the terms, any suspension could be more severe. But doesn't Holder also have to agree to let outside parties see the settlement terms? Maybe that was part of the settlement, who knows.

The only evidence in this case is picture of a women who had 10 hours to create bruise not seen by officers on the scene of the crime and her and her friends story (which has holes in it) of what happened that night... While admitting they were drugged up...

So what are they going find other than a he said she said case that one judge decided to give more credibility to one person for no clear reason to..

Again, you're talking about a standard of evidence when I'm telling you the NFL doesn't have to meet one.

This will likely have as much to do with PR as it will what actually happened.

And if that's the case the NFLpa has a firm base to defend him and reduce any suspension. .

It was NOT a suspension....it is that simple.

Hardy was NOT punished by the Commissioners List.  Quite the contrary, it could very well be seen as a benefit to him.  Many players hate playing under the tag so much, that they actually hold out.  Hardy got the best of both worlds.  He was able to make a $13M payday AND not risk injury under the one year tag.

If he is suspended (making no judgement on this), there will be NOTHING the NFLPA or his PA will be able to do about it.

I was assured with 100% confidence yesterday that if Hardy gets suspended now that he will be the victim of workplace discrimination and will sue the NFL.

Yep, that's what I was told.

If Goodell attempts to suspend hardy the players union should raise enough holy hell to get him removed from office, or sue his rearend off. This he said-she said case should have been dropped day one by the woman judge.

Since it wasn't, Hardy appealed, which meant by NC laws he was not guilty unless he was  deemed so by a jury. The accuser did not show up for the trial and because the  case was already settled out of court, it was dismissed.

There is no way the NFL could be dumb enough to suspend a player a number of games over a case that was dismissed, just because a person ACCUSED them of something.

There is no way Hardy hurt the image of the NFL, if what he was ACCUSED of was false  The NFL and Goodell are  beginnig to look more and more  inept, as  they attempt to make the public believe a player has to be a saint and live a sheltered life, for the sake of their supposed image.
