Hardy Suspension Likely

You're assuming I'm emotionally invested in this as you obviously are. You also seem to be under the illusion that I give a sh*t one way or the other. Scot and I were simply trying to remind you of the fact that the media does not care about facts, truth or the rule of law. They, like politicians, know that the majority of the listening public will believe anything they spew and will not take the time to actually research the facts. Not one single entity with a voice that's heard by the masses gives one iota of the thought about what really happened that you keeping preaching. But you go ahead a scream to all that's Holy about the injustice being done to Hardy. Everyone else is moving on.

I'm not emotionally invested but I keep going back and forth with you on this discussion. .

At what point do you realize we're doing the same thing with different opinions??

Side note:

People don't care that Brain Williams lied about what he did in The middle East and during Katrina either...

Oh wait......

But it does to the Nflpa and their members. . Demorris Smith isn't going to sit by and get ran over again by the NfL..

That's exactly what I thought when Mr. Scot said that.  The NFL (and to a lesser extent, the NFLPA) have bestowed God-like powers to Roger Goodell, but the league's FO still has to answer to the courts---and the court of public opinion---if Demaurice Smith decides to take legal action if necessary.

On an off note, if Hardy gets a two game suspension, I think that he will probably let the whole thing go and do his time, especially if there is some tacit agreement by the Panthers that this would be palatable to them in regards to re-signing him on a one year prove-it deal.

If Goodell attempts to suspend hardy the players union should raise enough holy hell to get him removed from office, or sue his rearend off. This he said-she said case should have been dropped day one by the woman judge.

Since it wasn't, Hardy appealed, which meant by NC laws he was not guilty unless he was  deemed so by a jury. The accuser did not show up for the trial and because the  case was already settled out of court, it was dismissed.

There is no way the NFL could be dumb enough to suspend a player a number of games over a case that was dismissed, just because a person ACCUSED them of something.

There is no way Hardy hurt the image of the NFL, if what he was ACCUSED of was false  The NFL and Goodell are  beginnig to look more and more  inept, as  they attempt to make the public believe a player has to be a saint and live a sheltered life, for the sake of their supposed image.

I don't think people realize that Goodell has nothing to do with handing out  suspensions anymore or the investigation into disciplinary cases. Any suspension Hardy may or may not get will have nothing to do with Goodell.

Goodell does handle the appeals of those cases so if the NFLPA appeals the ruling.....well, good luck with that because I can't see him reducing anything related to domestic violence.

Doesn't matter! Greg Hardy cannot be touched! If they even try, the Supreme Court will intervene!

At least that's what's expected here in Charlotte.

I'm not sure that some here realize that outside of Panther fandom, the rest of the country doesn't necessarily have the same kind of reverence and deference for Greg Hardy as rabid Panther fans do.

I also wonder how it's going to play here if Hardy doesn't swear loyalty to the Panthers and agree to play the next five years for nothing but the love of the game and this team.

That's because Panthers fans are probably the only ones that really give a poo to do more than just a cursory look and wilt under ignorant public sentiment. That, or we're being homers.

If much of the general population (pun intended) maligns a good guy like Cam Newton unfairly, what do you think they are going to do to a perceived bad guy like Greg Hardy?

And don't throw in all the other racial factors and stereotypes regarding Hardy and Holder. Hardy's bad decisions have left him in a pickle.

Understood.

That can actually work both ways, as is evidenced by those times when other team's fans get excited about a former Panther player or coach, but fans on here say 'buyer beware'.

    • Right. But you do understand that there is no such thing as not signing free agents, right? That's what I mean. So make some good free agency moves and do well in the draft. That's step one. If you can't accomplish that, then this will just keep getting worse.
    • Sweet jebus this is idiotic Yes, overall team success in this league, you need a good QB, but beyond just that painfully obvious fact, let's get into the rest of the stupid in there......... First things first, you say.. "if we need a good QB for him to have success, then why are you drafting that player with the #1 pick" Show me one time I've ever said we would need a good QB for T-Mac himself to have success... you can't, because I never have.  I think you're referring to the "he's bad enough that we then have a Top 5 pick to target a QB" part of my post, which is very clearly talking about said QB, not T-Mac.  The other way to interpret that is just overall team success, which again, wouldn't be anything about T-Mac or his ability to impact the offense or overall team wins and losses. I'm quite sure I could do this with a number of teams over the years, but I don't want to spend the time to do multiple, so I'll keep it to just the 2023 Vikings right now since you wanted to use Jefferson as your example....... The Vikings went 3-6 after Cousins went down last year.  And two of those wins came before Jefferson even came back from his own injury, they were 1-4 in the final 5 weeks after Jefferson came back. In those 5 games, Jefferson had 31 catches, 503 yards, and 2 TDs Having the WR you specifically called out didn't help them go better than 1-4 with a bad QB, even though he still put up a great stat line for that time period either.  It also didn't make that QB good enough to where they then went out and brought in TWO new QB's this year to replace Doubs and Mullens who started down the stretch for them last year. And that's with 4th year Jefferson, not a rookie that T-Mac would be If you expect a WR getting drafted #1 overall to be the player to turn a franchise as bad as we are around in 1 season, make whatever QB we're able to put in there be successful, and lead us to a solid season, then you are literally insane. We are AWFUL, we have a few young guys who could turn into great players, but we are so far from being a good team, that there isn't any player we could draft next year that is going to change that in 2025.
