Kenny Britt please! !

WOW!!

Britt has repeated over and over he wants to resign with the rams. a big contract could change that, but I don't want/believe the panthers would be that team.

Id welcome just about any players at a certain worded contract. Britt will either be resigned or a team with LOTS of cap space will throw him a big bone.

I am thinking that a big bone worth 2.75 mil per year for five years with 10 mil guaranteed would do it.

Not sure if the link has already been posted, so my apologies in advance.....

I see both the good and bad with bringing him in. All the talent, and a beast at 6'3", but could be a hard sell with the red flags.

Personally, I think he is a solid #2 and will be the kind of value-signing that Gettleman pulls off. With Cam throwing him the ball, he could be a very low-end WR1, actually.

Keep your nose clean, Kenny and come play with Cam.  3-yr deal, heavily protected against idiocy/injury/etc. much like Percy Harvin's old contract, but without the price tag.

To me, three years is not long enough. I want at least four, and I would think that would be better for our cap (which would lead to a better value overall).

Me thinks that's about what st lou will offer, maybe not that big of guaranteed tho. In order to change his mind, 5 million per with around 15 guaranteed with at least 3 yr total. He's still young and wasn't drafted in the first by mistake. He had one quiet year, after being a knucklehead turd. Of course I maybe overvaluing his worth, the draft seems to be another 2014 one for WR. Plus with incoming cuts, the mid-level deep WR FA pool gets deeper. Those things kill the value of a free agent like britt. But just like the draft all it takes is one team. There's about 6 teams with 30+ in cap space. Jags and raiders have to spend to get within 10%, per rules. After thomas and dez get tagged, wells there's cobb and everyone else. Some team misses out on cobb, then panic overbuy a FA like britt.

To save time, listen carefully to Dave Gettlemen:

No ticking time bombs.

We just spent $13m on a player so he could sit on his AK-47-lined couch and bring a year's worth of bad PR to this team.  I imagine players with character issues are off the list.

Folks, this ain't Madden.  You have to live with these guys.  You have to trust these guys.  My experience has been that people with character issues tend to fold when character is needed the most--the tough times.  While I think Britt has some impressive talent, there is a reason the Rams are not going after him.  There is a reason he was on a one-year deal.   If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

Buffalobillsdraft.com:

"The Buffalo Bills enter the 2015 season in need of improving their offensive attack .. procuring help for the yet-to-be-named starting quarterback seems like the next logical move.

Kenny Britt, a pending free agent of the St. Louis Rams, is one receiver that may be on the Bills’ radar in the coming weeks.

...

Kenny Britt’s size, speed and price tag make him a very intriguing target. Physically speaking, he is the biggest wide receiver in the 2015 free agent class, and is flying under the radar with all of the talent that’s currently set to hit the open market. He only made $1.375 million last year. That is set to increase with his recent production, but even with a pay raise looming, he will be one of the best bargains available.

...

While catching passes from two different starting quarterbacks, he averaged 15.6 yards per reception, which was the 10th-best average among receivers in the NFL. That average was slightly higher than that of the Bills’ leading receiver, Sammy Watkins (15.1 yards per reception), and shows the former Rutgers star can still produce even with an unstable quarterback situation.

...

With a big frame and above-average athleticism, his addition would provide the Bills offense with a possession receiver who can win jump balls and make tough catches to move the chains.

...

Adding a big, fast and talented player like Britt would help complete Buffalo’s receiving corps and give the Bills a possession receiver they haven’t really had since Eric Moulds. As long as he’s matured and turned the corner on his off-field problems, Britt would be an excellent signing for the Bills, especially at a likely-affordable price."

ESPN beat writer for Rams Nick Wagoner

"Rams, Kenny Britt should stay together

...

Despite using multiple draft picks on wide receivers in the previous two offseasons, Fisher & Co. sought someone who could produce big plays and big numbers. As it turned out, both sides mostly got what they wanted.

Former offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer made it clear how the Rams felt about Britt's addition near the end of the season.

"No. 1, he's just a joy to be around," Schottenheimer said then.

"Comes out to practice every day high energy, intense, works, runs. I've been around a few receivers in my career that have talent like that and they don't want to work. This guy comes to work every day. He's a special talent, but he works his craft which is great. Certainly,..a guy that we'd love to see back here."

Now, as Britt heads toward free agency for the second year in a row, the Rams probably won't have the benefit of bringing him back on another "prove it" deal.

...

Discussions about a new contract began with Britt's representatives at the Senior Bowl in January, but to this point, a deal has not been struck. With free agency looming on March 10, there's a chance that Britt will get a chance to test the market.

...

As it is for any possible free agent, Britt's future will be a business decision."

Ravens blog:

"Ravens should take a look at receiver Kenny Britt in free agency

...

Baltimore needs a receiver ... So who sounds like a good idea? Possibly an under-the-radar receiver that could help Baltimore become another step closer to the big dance? I give you a possibility in Kenny Britt

...

Shaun Hill and Austin Davis were the (Rams) quarterbacks and failed. Britt still managed to put up 48 receptions for 748 yards

...

Instead, think of Joe Flacco ripping passes toward Britt. It would certainly help elevate Britt, who has never had the luxury of playing with a top-flight quarterback.

But what about Torrey Smith? I love 82. I love watching Smith hit the 9-route and Flacco bomb it downfield. But Smith isn't developing how I personally had hoped. Smith continues to not fight for the ball. His route-running still isn't superb. His separation relies on speed and great placement of the ball.

If the Ravens lose Smith ... Britt sounds like an appealing player. ... a receiver who could play to some great strengths to compliment Steve Smith"

What an interesting thread.  The email he wrote Fisher is very telling.  I think the biggest thing for him in St. Louis is going to be who is playing QB (outside of the money).  Looks like he loves the city and he's making his home there (good for him considering his history).  It's going to be a tough sell to get him out of there, but that will partially be the numbers from other teams.

One of the biggest issues here is his character since many of us are still wrapped up in the Hardy melodrama.  Before we get into tearing their lives to pieces or getting into the nuances of police reports, you have to look at how an individual's character plays into how much they can contribute to the football field versus the dollars invested.

We got absolutely HOSED by Hardy.  We got one game for $13.1 million dollars.  I don't think that burn goes way for a long time.  Has Britt done enough to prove to the GMs of the NFL that he's not a liability off the field?  As we've seen, the NFL is forging murky waters with it's new discipline system (or whatever it is).  You don't want money sitting on the sideline.

I'd love to add someone who is hungry to play, wants to be in Carolina and is at the right price.  It's going to be up to the Rams to really tell Britt they don't have room for him.  It's a BIG gamble to let go of a #1 WR in the NFL.  Sometimes you find replacements, other times you're grasping for straws.  What will the Rams do?
