I never understood why they are called the browns when their predominant color is orange

 

They're named after the Brown family, the one that currently owns the Bengals.

To me the change in hue was meh... I don't think it really matters but it makes sense... Deeper, brighter, updated...

But where they went horribly wrong was with that new secondary logo of the dog. Yuck.
