I may be in the minority here but I feel like we should let the CJ contract play out. I don't know how confident I am in how many years he has left at a high level. We seem to be in fine cap position this year for what we plan to bring in and we seem to be in a good cap position for next year. So I do not really see the need to move on in his contract right now.

Sometimes it is best to just take your lumps rather than kick the can down the road.

You extend him so you lock him up for the rest of his career. He is still on this side of 30 and has shown to be durable and productive. You don't restructure and you don't sit pat when we need him for his ability and his, leadership. If you give him a 3 year extension you end up reducing his cap hit for this year and next and as long as the guarantee money is largely his salary for this year and next with a manageable signing bonus it is a win- win for both sides. With that said I have no idea what kind of money he is looking for as this point.

I disagree with this, let the contract play out instead of kicking the can down the road.

I see both sides of the argument, but I disagree with 20M this year and 15M next, and then he's a FA in '17.  He's proven that he should remain a Panther, and a 2 or 3 year extension assures him of that.  Reduce his salary this year and next, and stretch it into a signing bonus that can be spread out over the next few years.  If we could free up 6-8M this year with CJ, our cap number looks solid.

CJ can be a rotational DE by the end of his contract.

    • Overall it was a fun pleasant surprise of a game. That final drive by the Panthers was atrocious though. It would have been nice to at least go down landing a few blows not just punching air. We shrunk in the moment. I don't want to say it took away from the rest of the game but it was certainly unfortunate.
    • you guys are 100% butt buddies, and you know it. you know who im talking about without even having to list names. its the same 5 users that spend their free time on here dumping on the panthers every move and especially anything regarding Bryce. you pie each others posts, quote each other, all day. this forum is slowly dying and posters like you guys are contributing to it. this is a fan forum. if you hate the team and product so much, why waste any time on here? I'm not sure what "L" you are referring to, there is no winners or losers here. we both have an opinion. I choose to remain positive over things I can't control. I choose to spend my free time on other things other than bitching and complaining about a football team I root for. You do not.
