The NFC South has not given Gettleman a reason to go out into free agency.

GEE, WALLY, THAT'S NEAT!

But if we had an elite WR, we would be AMAZINGLY better than "a bit better than last year". Some of you put way too much stock in Cam. Cam is not and never will be a Brady, Manning, Rodgers, or Brees. Those guys can win with marginal WRs. Cam can't. But guess what? Those other QBs normally don't have marginal WRs. They normally have elite WRs. OR you can whine and moan that Cam has jack crap while Luck lucks out with a loaded roaster.

There is no such thing as a silver bullet for any team but for crying out loud, could you imagine us with a guy like Cobb as our #1, KB as our #2, and Olsen too? Yes, Cobb would've never come here in a million years. But still. You win year after year by fielding the best team.

Some of you have SUCH an inferiority complex. Season after season you say you want to fly under the radar and prove the doubters wrong. WHY are you so stubborn? WHY do you want to win with the average mediocre Panthers? Why not root for a team that is loaded? It makes no sense. It's the same thing ever off-season: we're fine guys, just a few more holes to fill and the NFCS is ours for a decade, we build through the Draft via BPA.

Good god. Aren't you tired of being losers yet? Still no back to back winning seasons. We lucked out in having back to back Playoff seasons. It's not too much to ask at all for the FO to sign an elite player. NOT because there's no proof that an elite player means wins ... BUT BECAUSE AN ELITE PLAYER WOULD MAKE US BETTER.

We want to be better.

Cam broke the rookie record for TD's, passing yards made OROY with basically Steve Smith, Olsen and a bunch of castoffs.

We can't afford a top flight WR, without sacrificing our future and current core. one receiver is not gonna suddenly make this team an elite squad. we need lots of talent and that talent has to gel.

please enlighten me on how a top flight WR is gonna turn this team into a super bowl contender when we need true starting players across the board with minimal cap cash just to keep the guys we already have. are you that hard headed or just a troll looking to argue? keep beating that horse buddy...it'll get you far.

I understand the worry about the Seahawks, they are darn freaking good.

No team has consistently played them as well as we have the past few seasons though.  I understand a moral victory is worth nothing in the postseason, but we have a chance at them.  I'd argue a better chance than any other NFC team.

Most other consistent NFC winners right now are pretty heavily reliant on an explosive passing attack and Seattle shuts that down pretty hard.  We've pinned Lynch down about as well as you can.  Keuchly gets his say in with Graham (not everytime, but better than any other LB in the game).  If we can dominate the ground game against them and keep Wilson in the pocket while collapsing it, we certainly have a shot.

Yes, Cam broke records. Then Luck beat most of Cam's records. One day someone will beat Luck's. Cam's numbers have since declined, however, as we thankfully don't run him as much and teams know how to play him better now. Cam is a great QB, but he's not elite. Give him a better corps? Well then things can change in a heartbeat. An elite WR could give Cam his best season to date stats wise. Every bad game he had this past season was blamed on the O-line, playcalling, and the WRs. Give him an elite WR and at least one excuse goes out the window.

We've added "true starting players" for years and years and years. It's just not working. Cam needs someone as talented as he is on the offense.

But don't worry, I hear some scrub named Boykin might sign. WE'RE THAT CLOSER TO BEING A CONTENDER, lol.

This team is damaged. I'm aware the cap situation sucks. But what 3-4 avg players would do for this team could be done with one elite player. That's common sense.

Alas, it'll be more of the same in Pantherland this year. 7-9, 8-8, 9-7, maybe 10-6. Maybe a trip to the Playoffs. And letdown ... again.

And I don't troll, btw. No one writes all of what I wrote just now as a means to mess with people. That's a waste of time.

It's widely known I don't drink the Kool-aid and am a very harsh critic of the team.

so where is this magical money coming from to sign a 10-million dollar receiver and whisk Panther players are you wanting to cut whose cap hits won't keep us from signing our draft picks?

It's the football version of Pistons (them) vs Bulls (us) from the 80s/90s. Only a matter of time.

the slap-happy dreamers in our fan base need to look at how the Hawks became Super Bowl favs...it's called the draft and a couple home run pickups that they could afford because they have so many rookie-contract super stars.

that's what we are trying to do and it's the correct decision.

Who gives a poo about the NFC South? This is what I'm talking about with our fanbase. Our expectations are so laughably low. It's like, we're cool with the bare minimum.

News flash: winning the NFC South isn't the Superbowl. You build a team to win a championship. If your division sucks and you win it, you most likely suck.

We arent in position to win the superbowl this year bud. Our team wont go from a Hurney riddled team to a superbowl winning team over night. We arent there yet, it takes time, and were doing it the right. I want to be a perenial playoff contender. Not max out our cap and resources, have like 2 years to win something, and then regress and reload.

i believe yiu have the mindset of "this season" and management has the minfset of "next five seasons"

Yes Gettleman is a genius for not getting us in cap hell by signing big name free agents. In fact we really need to save as much money as we can so we can sign Luke and Cam to long term contracts. We are drafting well neigh that we don't have to make big moves in free agency. We save money by building through the draft rather than free agency.

do you actually think that if we got cam another big WR that all of a sudden he will magically have the time to pass him the ball. We need better offensive line play, especially in pass protection before any investment in a WR would truely be worthwhile. If you haven't noticed cam tends to hold on to the ball. Don't get me wrong it may work out, but to strap our budget to a maybe is not the gettleman way. Putting flyer's out there is the gettleman way i.e. Ted Ginn Jr, Corey Brown, Remmers, Norwell, Harper.
