The common thread of our signings this year are players who have previously played for our coaches. The players know the system and can hit the ground running. The coaches know the drive, scheme fit, and the weaknesses of the player. Less mistakes are generally made this way.

If we swing and miss on a CB in the draft, I'd like to see us pick up Peanut Tillman who was a pro bowler for RR in Chicago.

The most interesting news to me is that yet another FA signing gets a 2-year deal.

In 2013 Gettleman handed out a ton of 1-year deals (Munnerlyn, Mitchell, Ginn, Mikell, Florence, etc) and after some of those guys had breakout seasons they left and got paid. It left a lot of holes on the team and forced Dave to really hit a grand slam in back to back seasons on his cheap FA signings because of our cap situation. He swung for the fences again but missed badly on a few guys.

To me this is a sign of Dave adapting and making changes. And most importantly, learning from his mistakes. He's still sticking to his philosophy and gameplan, but he's improving upon it. He's confident that he can do his homework and find talented players that are cheap. But instead of giving them 1-year deals he's locking them up for 2-years. Now if any of these guys have a breakout season we get them for a cheap 2nd year instead of having to overpay them or lose them as a FA and have holes on the team all over again.

I like it.

solid perspective.

Nothing wrong with this signing some of you are overreacting, it's a solid depth signing and if it doesn't work out he's a solid special teams player I don't think he's gonna be thrust into a starting role unless he legit earns it in camp...I think some people forget how absolutely abysmal our special teams were last year! This also allows us flexibility in the later rounds of the draft to take a chance on players too crack the starting lineup rather than be forced to play special teams roles due to lack of personel

Carolina Chuck's reaction to everything Gettleman does reminds me of that scene in Saturday Night Fever where Tony Manaro tells his father he got a 4 dollar a week raise and the father is like not impressed and Tony's all like " I KNEW YOU'D PISS ON IT"
