Todd Gurley to visit with the Panthers

Not sure how I feel about this to be honest.

There's no telling where he'll go in the draft.  We've had players in for visits plenty of times that were way out of reach, which I think Gurley is.  Not in the first necessarily, but if he makes it to the 2nd, he won't last until our pick.  It makes sense though, because anything could happen, and it's best to know guys for those "just in case" moments.

We've been linked to both Gurley and Tevin Coleman recently.  Sure looks like we're taking a hard look at a RB early.  Almost certainly not #25 early, but looks like a RB in the 2nd or 3rd round could certainly be in play.

I'm not against it.  DeAngelo is gone now and this is very possibly Stewart's last season as a Panther too.  You can't count on him staying healthy anyway.  I'm not sure why RB as a need hasn't gotten more talk.

Could we go one draft without drafting a RB please.

Let Stewart, Tolbert and Fozzy carry the load

And a good chance two of those guys, (Stewart and Tolbert) aren't on the roster in 2016 because of their contracts.

In the first? Hell no. In the 2nd? Tempting. The 3rd? All day. He'll probably go in the 2nd, but gotta cover all bases. Trade down scenario could happen for all we know...and if Gurley is the BPA with our current backfield in question beyond this year...I wouldn't hate jumping on him in the late 2nd if he's clearly the best guy left.

    • It appears that he sees things differently than the QB and OC, so Cam's advice is spot on. It isn't about number of targets, it's about quality of targets. Trust and being on the same page. BY doesn't know how to anticipate what XL is doing. And XL doesn't like where BY is placing passes. One on one film study would go a long way. More for BY than XL though. He has to adjust to XL. I really don't think XL can adjust on the fly.
    • If the team shows improvement, then he shouldn't be in danger of losing his job - even if the record doesn't reflect. This was a very young team (with a lot of new vet starters) that overperformed last season. Somebody's doing something right. Consistency is key with so much youth. And we're potentially looking at new starters at ILB and FS. Those are positions that take time to fully understand the defense. ILB calls the front 7. Safety calls the back 4. Injuries at WR and IOL killed the offense last season. Depth needs to be upgraded. Same with Edge. I think they would have won more games if Pat Jones doesn't go down early. Be smart with the roster and draft. Trade players for assets when it's time to pay them more than they're worth - yes, that includes BY if he doesn't make a pretty big jump. That's one of the many reasons Tillis is as important as anyone to the future of this team.
    • He had heart surgery a while back he looks Fraile I hope he is okay
